I was fencing one of my fencers from my club (N.G.F.C. the best little fencing club this side of the peckos) anywho, one of my fencers has a painted a big white X painted across his mask. we affectionatly now call him "Racer-X" or "Multiplication Man". I also paint my mask with a single horizontal white stripe for the sole purpose of keeping my oponent from seeing my eyes. however i have been told that the stripe makes me seem intimidating. and that certainly is not why i do it. so as i was fencing "Racer-X" i found myself distracted by his mask. So the question is do you paint your mask, why and do you find painted masks a distraction or intimidating or just stupid[/b][/b]???? Best, Coach D.
I'll vote first! Stupid! Well, not entirely, but I can't imagine EVER painting my own. As for my opponent, they can paint whatever they want. Doesn't bother me. But I think it's silly.
"so i tells him, if your gonna be callin the shots, your gonna be callin them from alpha centauri 6!
you tell tellum straight up, your the master, your the master, ooh-tee-wee, ooh-tee-wee...
Thumb wars!? I didn't know someone else watched that movie...
Anyway, I don't paint my mask because I feel that if you're going to look like that, you've got to back it up with your fencing. And I can't yet. So until I'm regularly winning tournaments, my mask stays black.
The white stripe across the mask seems to be popular. I like the design too. If I get a Prieur mask I think it'd look quite nice with the white stripe. Wonder why others have put the white stripe across. It's been done before.
