| Reno hotel? The USFA has posted the schedule for the Reno Div II/III/Vets and for Louisville for the Div I Nationals/Youth, but no hotel for either. Any ideas?
Yes, I admit I afford these things by planning them compulsively way in advance.

| It is listed on the newsletter right under the scehdule.
It is the Reno Hilton. I already called them. The cost is 89$ per night fot the event. Normal cost is $99.
Anyone know of an alternate location to sleep that is more reasonable and not too far away from the venue?

| Thanks! Huh - I guess I depend too heavily on the website to be current.
That's the same place as Reno last year--the restaurants are overpriced, the main floor is a big dark casino (I don't gamble), and the whole place smells of tobacco smoke.
I drove up to see Lake Tahoe with a friend last time I was there.

| I staying at the KOA Campground out the back door. Myself it's the only way to go. I be able to cook my own food plus grill steaks or Brats.

| Ok, Tim, which Brats are talking about this time? Granted, both taste great grilled (one I can attest to personally, the other, well, guys talk, you hear things....).
Hmmmm. Now there's an idea..... Fencing Tailgate parties!!!! WOOHOO! I'm there. Well, no I'm not. Need to get some finances under control before I stray too far from home turf for tournaments. Sigh. Such is the lot of the working stiff. Have fun for me instead.

| The nice thing about having the camper at Reno is the campground is on the hotel grounds. and like I said it's out the back door. I be able to have my coffee without spending a couple of dollars for a cup. Remenber the lunch last year chicken strips and stuff peppers. Like I said if someone want to drop bye let me know.

| Anyone know if the Hilton at least has a decent work out room? Enough cardio machines like treadmills, bicycles? How about weights?

| I checked their website. They do have a workout room, but I'm not sure what it includes.
There is an 800 number also listed on the site.
See ya.

| Now I'm a little less confused--I got my newsletter today, and NOW I see the hotels. I figured it was the previous newsletter and I missed it somehow.

| If it's at the Reno Hilton, there is a fairly good sized workout room next to the venue halls. There's also a good swimming pool, a fifty (or thereabouts) lane bowling alley, and tennis courts as well. Oh, and there's a driving range where you can slam some balls into a lake. I was there last year and watched this old geezer take out a ICBM-sized steel-headed driver and banged out shot after shot into the stratosphere. All other schmucks out there were shanking balls right in front of them (I could toss a ball farther). And he had accuracy too. There were islands in the lake and he could drop a ball into any of them, or make a splash very close to them.
One can also run around the hotel area. The hotel is huge, so once around is a good work out in itself. Of course, I'll put money that no one will see the light of day for the time they show up. :-)

| Hit expedia.com and search for hotels in Reno. They have a special rate for the Reno Hilton. 45 Thurs and Sun nights, 69 Fri and Sat. You have to pay in advance, but its about 45% cheaper than rack rate (and probably cheaper than USFA rate)

| I was considering using expedia for a plane/hotel package which is the best rate Ive seen, but has anyone here used them before? I'd like to know how reliable this type of thing is before I pull out the plastic.

| So is it difficult to get to the Hilton from downtown? Right now you can get a room at Circus Circus for $29 a night except for Fri-Sat, which is $59. |

| Last year I stayed in a hotel on the strip. Was great fun. The drive is not bad to the hotel. Only about 5 minutes and better rates.

| If you say somewhere other than the Hilton, basically there's the inconvenience of being able to put your equipment somewhere on any kind of break. Instead you'd have to lug a weapons bag around the hotel even to go to the men's/ladies' room (maybe not the best example, but you get the idea).
Does that make it worthwhilet to stay at the Hilton? What do people think?

| If you don't drive to the Hilton, I'd recommend staying at the Hilton because it is out of the way, relative to the rest of the Reno hotel-casinos. If you drive in, it's no big deal.
As for leaving your stuff, you can always just leave your stuff at the venue if you're going to walk around the casino for about an hour or two. If you plan to do more, you might ask someone who's staying there if you can pitch your equipment there. You might also kindly ask the armorers or some friendly vendor if you can stow your stuff behind their tables.
Then again, unless you can ask someone to use their shower, you'll be walking around the casino in your whites.
Taxi to the main part of town is about $9.00 each way. There are some nice places to go, too.

| Please, somebody tell me, have you used expedia.com to order hotel or air reservations?
Is it reliable?
I'd hate to get to the airport or hotel and find out I have no ticket or room.

The few times I have used them, I have had no problems. I also know several people, two of which are frequent business travelers, that swear by expedia.com.

| Great! Thanks for the input. I think that is the way I will go. Seems to be the best deal.
See you there.
