Abu Ghraib - Lets Protest this

Again in the papers: Abu Ahraib. The Prisioner, standing undressed while an over-masculine man in combat "style" clothing 'guarding' him [looking at his underwear]. Some portions of the army have become Nazis. I also noticed the profliferation of dogs: It is again, a symbol of Nazis. There is no purpose for those dogs except to maim and kill people, or guard a stash.

Recently one of our middleastern friends showed a move called "The Producers" I also saw the movie a long time ago. It was unreal....."Springtime for Hitler, Blueskies Above". I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it, it was totally black humor at its worst - but it served a purpose. It sents a message that people are blind to the build up of war. They never saw the spector of Nazism looming over their country.

We have become a corrupt, spoiled society, feasting on Gucci, Fendi and Porches. Our young people are seduced by demons into lifestyles of crime, that is 'rewarded' with Trophy Wives [skinny enough to wear a Dior], Trophy Fish [to hang on a wall], Trophy Cars, houses.. but did anyone do anything to deserve these things? And what about the Iraqi people, mostly poor, partly clad. How can we be so blind to this? Those people are stuggling to 'keep up the the Jones'. How can we put them in this position? Most of us don't want that. I wear cheap chinese pants and t-shirts with slippers.

Please find a way to talk to those men in the Al Quaida... they feel very upset by something, but we have never found out what it is? Why would a dozen men suddenly attack such a big country, they're upset. Okay, we need to talk with them, found out what it is and absorb their ideas so that we can come to some agreements.

My basic stance has always been to try to bring groups of people together. You can't accomplish this in a POW camp. Please send those men home. In exercising my freedom of speech I jeapordized my job, my livlihood, confronted enemies, lost everything and I did it because I believe in the truth.

Elite Forces; Elite Rockets, Elite Uniforms. And that is what it boils down to clothes. Should I wear a pair of shorts, a dress - how long - should I wear a lightening bolt on my sleeve?

The people who use deadly force - or violence - either street violence or violence in speech are somehow incapable of presenting themselves in any other manner. They feel threatened. Today, waiting for a bus, a very masculine female, [I can't say it any other way...sorry] walking two dogs tried to get them to attack me. There is something very wrong with some people, and they'd better get it together real fast because we're not going to loose the world to a bunch of nut cases.

doing the right thing may be difficult. but just do it, even if it means being marginalised, do not care what others think, its what you think that counts. if you diw trying, die knowing that you died in service of what's right.

Telling the truth is the right thing. We don't want our soldiers to become 'schooled' in torture. There's no place for it in society anywhere. The pows simply needed to be housed, fed and taken care of until such time that we can make exhange of prisoners, and return them to their loved ones. THose men are so injured at this time, it will be very difficult to make them our partners, friends or allies. Slim, your message is slim pickins'.

The Geneva Convention is not just for other people!.... At this point I would have called in the Red Cross to observe. THen send those unschooled Gi's back, with a fresh stock of people who are Medically trained.

Hate to break this to you, but the bad guys don't take prisoners. Hostages maybe, but I'd say 50/50 on getting your head cut off.

If you want to read about some Geneva convention violations, go to this link.

They hate us, they always have, they always will.

It is not a matter of "understanding" each other. You are dealing with a culture of violence and oppresion that is firmly rooted in the 15th century. The people are ignorant and the leaders in the Arab world prefer to keep them that way for reasons of control. Part of that control is to give them an enemy, and that is ANYBODY different. Many a well meaning person has gone over ther to expose the evil US soldiers only to find themselves taken hostage by the very people they intended to help. Get it through your heads, they are animals and want our deaths.

They have no standing army, wear no uniforms and conform to no "rules of war." The Geneva Convention does not apply to them. Would you fence a bout where your epee was required to way three pounds more than your opponents?

As far as I am concerned any militant muslim is less than human. Torture them, dismember them, whatever you need to do to get information out of them. Then dispose of the remains. It is us or them. Some of you people need to go to NYC and stand at the WTC site, perhaps it will then sink through. I have never been there even though I live on Long Island, it is just too emotional a site for me.

Kill them all, its us or them.

Yes, you're completely correct. The way to demonstrate 'superiority' over the animals is to become one yourself.

Sorry, but people with this mentality are as deranged as those committing the brutal acts. I don't care whose 'side' they are on.

I would also like to point out that THE IRAQIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11! THERE IS NO PROOF, NOT ONE SINGLE SHRED OF CREDIBLE EVIDENCE THAT IRAQ HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH 9/11! Please! At least read the backtracking that your President has issued concerning the matter. Stop spreading the lies. It's no wonder this country is going to 'Hell in a handbasket' while the right-controlled media spoon feeds this BULL**** to the hate-blinded masses.

Ken you are crazy. just kidding. kind of.

everyone at some time hated you, me, America, Iraq, Buddha, whatever.

the whole point of species is to evovle from debilitating traits ... one which is hate and murder and that one crazy a*s japanese chick who can stuff 3.45 million hot dogs away in under 4 minutes acting as a role model for every walking truck driving heart attack ... but we move on.

If everyone took your attitude, it would've been better for the cold war to end in nuclear holocaust and allow the new, super species of cockroach take over and try again with our precious earth.

Iraq helped train some of the leaders of the underground terrorist movements. Saying they aren't invovled is like saying the generals coordinating the movements in Iraq from NORAD aren't invovled.

Indirect correlations aren't necessarily indifferent to causation.

oh, and if people really had a problem with President Bush, they wold've made a better organized effort to beat him. It's not right-wing America's fault that the "silly institution" of voting lead to the election of a conservative instead of a liberal.

Did they? Really? I assume that you have proof other than rhetoric?

Indirect correlations aren't necessarily indifferent to causation.
Heh, is that a way of skirting the 'correlation does not prove causation'?

Using that same string of logic, should the U.S. bomb itself? During the Taliban 'resistance' to Russia, the US supplied guerilla training and arms for many of the individuals who constitute Al-Queda's 'executive branch' including Osama bin Laden himself. Of course, they were 'resistance fighters' back then...

oh, and if people really had a problem with President Bush, they wold've made a better organized effort to beat him. It's not right-wing America's fault that the "silly institution" of voting lead to the election of a conservative instead of a liberal.
The did try to beat him. The other side was just better at playing the game. I've said it before, the Demss have a weak leadership that needs to go before they can muster any sort of response. I'm not convinced that they can even capitalize on the chum that the Repubs have tossed into the water...

U.S. Policy Toward the Persian Gulf

Access to Persian Gulf oil and the security of key friendly states in the area are vital to U.S. national security. The United States remains committed to defend its vital interests in the region, if necessary and appropriate through the use of U.S. military force, against the Soviet Union or any other regional power with interests inimical to our own. The United States also remains committed to support the individual and collective self-defense of friendly countries in the area to enable them to play a more active role in their own defense and thereby reduce the necessity for unilateral U.S. military intervention. The United States also will encourage the effective support and participation of our western allies and Japan to promote our mutual interests in the Persian Gulf Region.

    [several paragraphs deleted]

    Iraq

Normal relations between the United States and Iraq would serve our long-term interests and promote stability in both the Gulf and the Middle East. The United States Government should propose economic and political incentives for Iraq to moderate its behavior and to increase our influence with Iraq. At the same time, the Iraqi leadership must understand that any illegal use of chemical and/or biological weapons will lead to economic and political sanctions, for which we would seek the broadest possible report from out allies and friends. Any breach by Iraq of IAEA safeguards in its nuclear program will result in a similar response. Human rights considerations should continue to be an important element in our policy toward Iraq. In addition, Iraq should be urged to cease its meddling in external affairs, such as in Lebanon, and be encouraged to play a constructive role in negotiating a settlement with Iran and cooperating in the Middle East peace process.

We should pursue, and seek to facilitate, opportunities for U.S. firms to participate in the reconstruction of the Iraqi economy, particularly in the energy area, where they do not conflict with our non-proliferation and other significant objectives. Also, as a means of developing access to and influence with the Iraqi defense establishment, the United States should consider sales of non-lethal forms of military assistance, e.g., training courses and medical exchanges, on a case by case basis.
Are you absolutely SURE it was Iraq that allegedly trained those terrorists in Iraq or are you confusing it with our continual attempts to 'stabilize' the Mideast?

I have been listening to this line of thought for actually 3 years now? I don't know if we'll ever really know the full story. But we should at least try not to scream at each other, especially since we truly do LOVe each other [not really].....hey la, but I was thinking, what's this with the Shiites and Sunnis battling it out again. We have to get these guys together on the same wavelength or something, and then we'll have success with this port thing, what do you think?

i would reply but it would take to long and nothing would happen but a senseless argument where I would never agree with you and you would not agree with me. thus, let's both agree that we like pizza and should import it to Iraq so everyone becomes fat and happy.
