Saw a guy in Vegas wearing this tee shirt the other day: "What happens in Gitmo, stays in Gitmo."
Just because you have the right, that doesn't mean it is right.

I believe this is the same camp referenced in http://www.intelmessages.org/Message...sages/826.html (from 2002)

I ran across these in looking at the background on something else, and thought I would post these here to add some data to this discussion.

I think the Shiite vs. Sunni issue is one of our saving graces.

They might hate us, but they are more likely to nuke each other. The hatred and distrust between the two is far deeper and more long standing than any issue with the west.

I believe you mean "Shiite". Your spelling is a very rude word where I come from.

You are absolutely correct, I meant Shiite. No insult intended, just a typo.

P.S. I went back and edited the original.

Thanks Gavin for the thump on the head. Okay, well, I like the pizza suggestion. I think the American guys are just as worried about the fallout from this as the people on the so-called other side. Today, I had a very insightful discussion with a muslim extremist who, after a few moments, we came to realize that we really agree about many things. The thing was, we realized that that everyone since birth has been brainwashed into a certain way of thinking. For example: we go to school, or to temples, mosques, or churches and listen attentively to religious leaders, who give us information, which is propped up by our reading materials such as the bible, television, and radio. So if we're in our 20's or 30's, 40's or 50's, we've had that many years of soaking in input about religion. So there's not much chance that someone from the Bible belt for example, will be able to absorb much from another cuture.. as a former Graduate student in the Midwest, I remember listening to some very loud and sometimes nasty streetcorner preachers screaming about the cheerleader whores. It was shocking to listen to. I was on my way to a class, and I overheard a young street preacher - from a known denomination yell at a girl, calling her a whore, she was with her boyfriend and he almost killed him. I went to my home ec class. ... The same people who do those kinds of things are running amok in America. I blame the cheezy tv culture that we have offered to our children. It becomes totally impossible to introduce real culture, or cross culture when there is so much disagreement. We've become a fragmented society, each person determined to protect their own turf.

    Bye.

Well, I could fence with my umbrella as did Emma Peel, but alas!
