New Vendor

I just received a mailing from this new outfit. After checking out their website web page the phrase "if it looks too good to be true, then it probably is" keeps bouncing around in my head. Comments?

The Fax number given is a ID area code and the fact that I have not heard any discussing about this vendor opening on the internet. As a divisonal officer and someone involed in the division you think I would of heard something. I will contiue to check it and fine more about this. It's not me that running it. That cheaper then I can get equipement for. I would worry about the mask.

Interesting, to say the least.

The page is copyright 2000; how long have these people been around, and why hasn't anyone heard of them before?

I, too, am interested in hearing more from anyone who knows anything about them.

The company is based out of Boise area Id because it's a local phone call from me. The bodycords they show is from Blade because of the fact that Blade was the only one to have the red white and blue wire. I am still following the clues on them.

Thanks Mergs. You know they show the flex of the blades and stuff out of the rule book. Well since I got the only box and flex tester in the Division I can't see how they can test the blades. Take a look at the epee blade they have dispaly rust around the tang. I wonder if they bought alot of stuff from P C when they had the Hurricane Flyod sell. The bodycords both epee and foil are from Blade or PC.

After checking with the Secretary of State, L.M.C Service is not registered in the State of ID. Despite the ID phone number, they may not be located in the State. The number may be forwarded
somewhere else. For you to deposit checks in ID under a business name, you must have a DBA on file with the state.

The sabre cuff that is shown is not legal for USFA tournaments. The cost of lame material per yard is more than the cost of the sabre lame shown.

I have the feeling that they are selling second or water damaged equipement.

Tough to make it out, but it looks like Brooklyn. That is also the adress supplied:

L.M.C Service
P.O. Box 290-717
Brooklyn, NY 11229-717
Fax 208-7301321

Couriouser and couriouser. Do you think that this is someone trying to dump PC's old stuff? Is PC still in business?

Did you make your own flex tester or did you buy it from someone?

This is Stan of Blade dumping the stuff from PC. This is not new idea from Blade. Using a ID phone number for fax going back to Blade.

What's the rationale behind dumping? Why not just sell the stuff through Blade or fencesmart.com or whatever. It's not like he's going out of business.

Interesting, a practice foil for $16 ?
An electric foil for $24 ?
I paid more that $9 for foil blades after the hurricane sale and I felt I got my money's worth.

Even if it is complete crap those are good prices.

Sallearmouror-
You don't need a "calibret" or equivolent to test blade strength, you just need a vice and a weight.

If I weren't so broke, I'd buy one of those sabre masks.

Hmmmm. Well, like the time the sister in the choir loft was so taken with the Spirit she fell out and managed to catch hold of one of the lights hanging from the ceiling to save herself from a nasty splat on the church floor, and the preacher sensing what sight every upturned face would be presented with shouted "Should any man look up he will be struck blind by the Lord!" and the old guy at the back of the church yells out "Hell preacher, might as well take a chance on this right eye! Don't see as how you've been right on anything else yet!"

I'll let you know what I find out when and if I get my order!

Why use a ID phone number to sell the stuff. Just sell it though blade or Allstar. I bought several foil and epee blades and I thought I did okay to. The idea of using a ID phone number for a New York base vendor seam a little off base to me. Is New York phone rates for business that high.. Oh bye the way just a vice and weight wont do it totally.

Here's some information I received from this bunch. As soon as I can convince "She with whom I shall grow old" that a saber lame AND mask (even though I don't fence saber, just yet) for $100 is a good investment. Who knows, maybe some knucklehead in the FIE may think it's a cool thing to just make saber target the same for foil!

Anyway.....

Our company was created in 1990. We were a large firm that specialized in
production and distribution of the steel products and raw materials mainly
in Russia and different parts of Europe. However, starting this year we
began to apply our knowledge of the steel business and quality to the
American market by focusing in Fencing and Sport Equipments.
Our fencing products are made in the US, Russia, and China.
Our Fencing online store is completely based on the Internet. This system
is very useful for our clients because the price they pay does not encounter
any additional costs, such as extra funds spent by other companies on
unnecessary labor force or utilities.
The best way to contact us is through e-mail or fax. We apologize for the
inconvenience of not having separate phone lines for customer service,
however we promise a quicker and more productive service at lower costs.
The reasons described above responsible for the low prices on our fencing
equipment. Also, the prices you see on our web site are available for clubs
only and this includes free shipping with the purchase of $300 or more. Most
likely these prices will be in effect till the year 2002 (however, this
condition may be extended).

SPECIAL OFFER: If you would like to see the actual product and
determine the quality, you can buy each particular item that you would like
to see closer and we will deliver it to you for free (even if it is below
$300). In addition, if you do not like the product, we will take it back and
refund your money. You can see our refund policy on our web site.

Have been in a bit of email cross talk with these folks with respect to the discounts they are offering. As well as what they have available. Am not getting good vibes, but what the hell, nothing ventured ........ Stay Tuned for further developments.

Well, after many e-mails, etc. and them trying to sell me jackets/vests in the wrong size (both of which would look like they were designed and made by Omar the Tent Maker), I told them to let me know when they get their collective feces together.

Too good to be true? You bet.
