Does this use French or German

Does anyone know off the top of their head if a Hostin blade uses a French or a German tip? I have one here that is completely missing (don't ask) the tip and would like to rewire it.
Of course, if it doesn't matter what tip I use, then I sound like an idiot and please tell me that as well... I was just sitting here after a crazy day at work and began pondering this issue.

    Thanks for your help!

bynadutch: I think what you are saying is that there is a barrel on the end of your Hostin Plus foil, yet the tips is not there correct? If this is the seed question, then look at the holes in the side of the barrel. Do you see any threads in the barrel? If yes, then you have a german barrel. If not, most likely you have a french barrel.

If this is not the question, and you have no barrel on the blade, you can put/wire it for German or French. Your choice will work. Go to your favorite vendor, ask them for a complete tip with wire for a foil. Wire it up, or take it to your trusty favorite armour and let them do it for you.

Gary answered, but I'll add that the threading on the tip of a foil blade is standardized in the rules as metric 3.5 X 0.6...so any barrel wil fit...it has nothing to do with the brand of the blade at all.

Actually, its an epee... Hostin+ and the barrel isn't attached... I have a handful of tips/wires to make my first attempt at re-wiring but I don't know if they are German or French (a friend picked them up somewhere)

At least if I screw up I have a couple more to try again.

    Thanks for the tips!

Epee is the same any tip is required to have the same thread size 4.0 x 7. Use can use German, French, British, Italian, Russian or anything else.

Make sure there is no sholder just past the threads. Depending on the number of threads; the type of tip that works best matters. Some tips have their thread not going to the very edge and they work better with more threads, while those that go to the edge work better with less threads.
