Is it German or is it French? Several weeks back at the Houston NAC, had a guy ask me to re-wire his foil with his parts, no problem! After preping the blade, I looked at the bag he had given me and noticed a german foil wire in it. Still no problem. As I took the tip out, here is where I got whiplashed from what I saw.
The tip had markings on it "made it Germany". Had screws that were huge (like old Galaxy ones) on the side. Sure enough, I poped the screws out and the tip was a French tip! What the heck is this thing? Of course the micrometer comes popping out of my tool bag. The sizing is a 4.5mm barrel? Items of notice: It clearly is a French style tip with thicker walls than an Uhlmann. The tip screws again are chromed up old school Galaxy screws that are very flush to the outer walls of the barrel (very clean). The tip is clearly French styling.
Is this thing French, or German. Since it clearly is neither; I am calling it a Belgium.
Has anyone else seen one of these morfadites?
If I was a betting person, I would have to guess that AMD: Uhlmann's last years vendor/contractor for foil and epee tips: made these things. The coloring, machining/milling is the same as 2005 models from them.
I have zero clue where this guy got it from, yet will bet that it will not be the last time I see one. -

Array Gary;
I THINK that's one like I got from Fencing Post. The bag was marked "German foil 'French style'"
The tip marking ALSO had "RF" on it....which I believe is Rossler Fencing...who currently makes Uhlmanns parts.
It looks basically like a French style barrel & tip assembly, but designed to take the larrger German wire cup.
I'll see if I can take some pictures of it when I get home from the tournament I'm working tomorrow. -
That Guy
Array Those sound like the same points being sold by fencewithfun.com. Physical Chess is one vendor who is carrying some of these parts.
