Array I can think of no good way to make it work, no theoretical reason for it, and no positive benefit to it. So I guess I'm voting 'not me.' -

Array I'd have to agree on this. I like the target area for sabre. Mais que diable allait-il faire,
Mais que diable allait-il faire dans cette galere?. . .

Array It would be like epee, but not just the tip. I think it would be way fun. Or maybe I'm just a violent person and like the idea of hacking peoples legs off.......

Array Well, in AHF rules the front leg above the knee is target. http://www.ahfi.org/rules/sabre.php -

Array While the rules on target areas probably wont change, if you want to venture into the wonderful world of historical swordplay, everything is a target. As well as the use of full body contact including hilt and pommel strikes, use of the off hand and parrying devices, trips, throws and all that other really fun stuff. So if you look for someting perhaps a bit more strong then you might want to look into the various WMA (western martial arts) groups out there. -
I have images of people wearing thous horrible silver suits that they used when they tryed to sell Tab clear in the UK. Wanting to escape from the lab. -
Ever been hit in the kneecap by a saber?
In the real sword fighting days, if you aimed a blow at your opponent’s legs he’d just take your head off with a counterattack. Not a good trade. -

Array Which is why attacking to the leg NEVER works in epee.... -

unless they parry attacks to their body/arm well, have kind of odd footwork, and have poor defense when it comes to their legs..........................
then it works pretty well. -

Array Unless they normally fence sabre and are slumming in epee, in which case leg hits work VERY well. (rueful sigh) -

Alex Shaularov (probably misspelled) makes some really nice actionst to the leg, though I will admit that simple actions to the leg are often suspect. But he makes some really well set up compound actions to the leg. Very pretty. -
I believe the concept "sarcasm" came into play at some point. -

Array Perhaps ^^ It's been a long day at practice and such... trying to teach ppl the difference in timing of a beat for a simple action vs. compound action vs. indirect action vs. compound indirect action. There are days it feels like trying to make something with modeling clay and a hammer -

Not a good trade. in the real sword fighting days our sabre would have been the cavalrly slashing sword, and on horse, they did not hit the legs, i forget the exact reason as to why -
