Glove Repair

My glove is dying. It's not entirely leather (that's what I get for being a cheapskate and shopping Physical Chess) and the part of it that's not leather is some weird polyester stuff that'll catch on anything. It's got little tears and rips everywhere, but most noticeably on the fingers where they rub against the pommel or the bellguard.

I've got a buch of scrap leather from another hobby that I can use to cover it, but it's all different colors. Are there any rules about the color of a glove, or can I make this a regular frankenglove?

The more appropriate question might be is it worth the effort?

It is often best to treat gloves as a consumable item, subject to regular replacement.

Well, see, that's the problem. I've got exactly $5.21 to my name... and I just got the thing a month ago, and have only used it at one practice. With that criteria, I'd say it's time to call it Frankenglove. Plus, I've got plenty of spare time anyways.

you used it once and it fell apart?

my crappy blue gauntlents held up for a year each, with textured pistol grips and very heavy wear. I got a gripstar now, and it is like wearing an orgasm on your hand.

I used to patch my leather gloves all the time. Some of them looked like quilts ( only of various shades of brown and grey ).

I had money, I was just cheap. Er, frugal.

No, it just has a bunch of small rips on the cuff and the back of the hand, and it used to have some foam poking from a hole in the thumb, which I patched today. I'm just going to cover the polyester bits with some leather and call it fixed.

I know the bit on the thumb was worn away becasue it rubbed up against the felt pad for several hours at practice. The others appeared after practicing bladework at home for a week or two to break it in before practice. This is just the weirdest fabric I have ever encountered. It's probably just a poor choice of material on the manufacturer's behalf. Eh, it works for me. I'm just grateful to have something better than a gardening glove.
