| Urgent Help Needed for Coach PLEASE HELP
Alek Gromov, Head Epee Coach
Florida Musketeers
Alek Gromov was critically injured in a car accident on January 14, 2006. He was in ICU for a week and is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Coach Gromov will require outpatient rehabilitative therapy.
We are asking the support of the fencing community through prayers and donations. Coach Gromov is here on a work Visa and did not have any health insurance. His medical bills are already approaching $100,000 and his therapy bills will increase that amount.
Alek has a lot of loving fencing families that will be caring for him. I am sure any club would understand the impact of temporarily not having a head coach would have on young fencers.
Please consider making a financial contribution to his trust fund for medical expenses.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Karen Bichette at 407-760-6883.

| Oh man..... I've fenced both of his star students (Matt and Johnathan), and its a shame to lose such a talented coach. Best of wishes in his speedy recovery.

| I'll send something ASAP. I've fenced him and his students many times. In one of my favorite bouts of last season I lost to him 3-2 at time at the Sunshine State Games.
What is the longer-term prognosis? |

| Donations for ALek Another way that you can contribute could be to donate new fencing supplies that we will be raffelling off at the next few tournaments.
We would like to thank all of those who have already contributed. We will publish a list of all of our supporters at a later date.
Sincerely,
Ken Lauver

| Ken,
What is the latest word on Alek? How is the recovery prognosis? I wish that someone would've made an announcement at Duel 'til You Drop, we could have rounded up a bit there...

| Status (Here's the last update from Kathy Yergler)
"Alek has been checked out of the hospital into a respite care facility for a
couple weeks before being able to go to his apartment. He can slowly start
getting into a normal routine to see how he does. His physical activities
are restricted for a minimum of three months. Time will tell on the
cognitive side. He has regained so much already."
Compared to the prognosis at the beginning, this is fantastic.
Ken
