Acceptance of Candidacy for Canadian Liberal Party Leader This is taken from a friend's LiveJournal, and my response. Quote:

Therefore, I'd like to follow in the footsteps of a great many other Canadians, and make a formal statement:
Ladies and Gentlemen of the Press,
Although I appreciate the interest expressed and the phone calls that have been made to me (one, from my wife), I have decided that it would not be fair to all my constituents in the Marxist-Hedonist Party of Canada for me to desert it in order to run for the position of leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. I wish whichever poor sucker they finally manage to rope into it the best of luck, and look forward to chatting with them in the back benches.
Solidarity,
ian. | Incidentally, he's not entirely kidding about that Marxist-Hedonist Party bit. It may only have a few members, but when it comes to politics, pick those you agree with.

Keith's never has the appellation "IPA" applied to it and is pronounced "Keats". Although I laud your progressive inclination, alas, you've got a long way to go before you could run for the Liberal party.
The Conservative party on the other hand....
James.

I have eaten poutine, but never kittens. That kind of rules it out too, I suppose.

The Conservatives will also be looking for another leader in another 6 months or so.

Yes, but their candidates probably will not have run for leadership of the Liberals or NDP. Maybe the Bloc...
