| Road Question for New England/CT people I am driving up to Rhode Island next week. I know from past experience that I-95 in Connecticut backs up horribly in the evening before New Haven. I estimate hitting the NY/CT border around 3-4pm, coming from the Tappan Zee bridge.
I usually take the Merritt to I-95 just before New Haven. I want to avoid that backup though.
So, anyone have a recommendation for the best way from the Tappan Zee to Providence, RI?
Thanks! |

Thanks! | as far as i know (and i almost never travel that part of 95), there aren't any terribly good ways to avoid 95. sorry.

| I am pretty sure that is the best way to go.... Any other way is just as bad and depending on the time of day- probably even worse!!!! So just do it that way. |

| I've always taken the Merritt - even if the traffic is about as bad as I-95, it's much prettier. |

| Um, well, you could go 87 to 84 to 90 to 495, but that seems slightly roundabout... |

| I have to go through there all the time, and haven't found a significantly better way.
Just leave some time to get through the traffic. And have fun! |
