My name is Felix, and I currently fence with the University of Colorado at Boulder club. I grew up on the east coast, and learned to fence in New York -- began fencing when I was 12 or so, but up until recently hadn't picked up a foil in 4 years.

Slowly getting back into it -- the new foil timings certainly threw me for a loop!

First USFA tournament this Saturday in Boulder, CO -- the Div II/III qualifiers, I believe.

My brother is going down to CU this fall. Nice to know a fencer from boulder on here. I have been taking lessons down at NCF, though I haven't competed in any tournaments yet.

Felix went and graduated, so he is off in the Army or something now.
Still plenty of us in the CU club, though. Will your brother be joining us this fall?

Yes. He is going into the Architectural School. He was wondering if he might like to try out the CU Fencing Club and meet some new fencers.

I'm Chuck Slaughter. I'm a volunteeer coach at Amarillo College Fencing Association in Amarillo, Texas, and Chairman of the Plains Texas Division for 2006-2007. I am a certified referee (F6, E5, S10) but I coach much more often than I referee. In my alternative universe, I am an Assistant District Attorney for Potter and Armstrong Counties in the Texas panhandle.

Say Darkwing Chuck, you ever eat at "The Big Texan Steak Ranch?"

Just this summer I passed it on the way to vacation. Hurrying on to the next town we didn't stop to chow.

I've eaten there a number of times over the years. However, I've never tried to eat the 72 ounce steak (free if eaten in less than 1 hour, with all the trimmings). When Sergei Golubitsky was here a couple of years ago for a foil clinic we put on, we took him there one evening for a stereotypical Texas meal. You know - steak, baked potato and calf fries.

The Fame of that Big Steak has reached me! I don't think I'll ever try it either.

That must have been interesting to meet Sergei Golubitsky.

Me neither but it is a lot of fun watching friends, fencers and referees. Amgad Badawi tried it tow years ago after refereeing all day at the Crown of Texas.

I'm Seth Rogers. I fenced for about 5 years in Utah over at Utah Valley Sport Fencing. Went to school in Laramie Wyoming and fenced with the college club there for a couple years. Then I moved down to Colorado, near Boulder.

I've been on hiatus fencing-wise for the last two years due to tight finances while starting a small business. Wouldn't mind starting up again as soon as I've got the cash to repair old equipment, buy new stuff, and pay membership and competition dues. A bit of reconditioning is probably in order as well...

    Welcome back

Welcome back. If you are in Longmont, CO then you're in a great location for available clubs and competition.

I got back to fencing in January, but in the middle of Nebraska the nearest club is Lincoln, a couple of hours away.

    Hi all!

Jeff Mitchell From Ft. Collins here. So I do believe that I fall into RMS back in the saddle after 3 years out. checked in with UNC (Greely) fencing last night as it was the closest to my home. I might check in with Boulder before I make a decision on where to hang my hat, unless I have to declare be for a tournament (which seem to be getting in full swing here in Colorado).

    Hey everybody.
Most of you already know me. I’ve started collecting fencing videos on my youtube channel, both serious and weird. If you have any videos I should add, let me know.

I hope you’re able to catch this post within the flood of responses from all of the Colorado fencers on the RMS forum.
The RMS forum is only read by a few fencers in or out of Colorado. Now that I think about it, I’m not sure of any other Colorado fencers posting here in recent memory. Most that post here I suspect are from the Plains Texas area. Me thinks they are the only ones left that think the RMS can be something useful.

I know, it sucks. I honestly think I'm the only guy from the Springs on this thread. Everybody else from Colorado on this thread is from Denver or further north.
