| Sabre Fencing in Chicago I appologize if this was answered already ... no search results.
I am relocating from NYC (sabre heaven) to chicagoland and I'm looking for a sabre fencing club in the South, South-West burbs.
Any suggestions? So far, it don't look to good. |

| I think one of the Etropolski brothers is now the saber coach at CAAFC (if that club is still around: maybe a different name, now).

| Hristo Etropolski coaches at the Midwest Fencing Academy (which is out in Arlington Heights). They have the strongest saber in the area, but the students are primarily high school aged or younger. I don't have any contact information, but you might try looking at www.il-usfa.org for some.
I currently fence at the CAAFC. We do not have the numbers in saber that the MFA does, but we have a few strong (A, couple Bs) saber fencers. We're located downtown, so it's pretty easy to get here using public transportation. More information is available at www.caafc.com, and feel free to email me at dot.green@gmail.com if you want any more information.

| caafc is still around... ...and still the best in chicagoland, so come on down. i think there is sabre tonight, though i'm not really sure of the schedule, or the coach at this point. i'm kindof epee-centric.
but anyways, the club is great, our facilities are great, and unless you want to fence sabre with kids, it's the only place to be... |

| Was Hristo (Etropolski) ever at CAAFC? If so, when/ why did he leave? I know he was with the much ill-fated F2K until that disbanded. He's amazing. I am an epee fencer, but I took a couple of lessons with him for kicks while I was still living in Chitown -- incredibly physical. |

| Does anybody have an idea how strong IL Open sabre is go ing to be? I am trying to decide if it is worth coming from Atlanta . OK, I REALLY want to go to see a friend, but it helps to give some reason to it if I can bring my son to fence at the same price... |

| 1. We are currently having a few tryouts (can't think of a better word) for a new saber coach at the CAAFC, but currently we are between coaches. We should have a new coach in the next few weeks.
2. Hristo was at the CAAFC until the middle of last summer.
3. If we can convince a few of the girls to fence, the IL Open could be an A2, otherwise it will most likely be a B2. |
