    Junior Epee is B1
    Junior Foil is C1
    Senior Womens Foil is E1
    Senior Mixed Epee is B2
    Senior Mixed Foil is B2
    Senior Mixed Sabre is E1
    Vet combined Epee is E1

There are Women's Epee and Y14 Mixed Epee, but both are non-rated. If we can get more people, we can get them rated. Y14 Foil is one person from being rated and Women's Epee is 3 people from being rated.

    From AskFRED:
    Event fee: $20 (first event)
    $10 (each additional event)
Registration fee: $20 ($10 for those traveling further than 200 miles)
pre-registration closes on June 1st and all additional fencers will be required to pay double registration fees.

Fencers will NOT be allowed to fence more than two events in one day.

At this time we are NOT requiring or accepting on-line payment/registration for this event. However please note that if you have a track record of pre-registering and NOT attending/paying we may require you to pre-pay for your registrations. We want acurate numbers in our pre-registrations so that we can plan to host the best event possible.

The Crown is part of the experimental RMSC (2005-06 season) & also a Plains TX Div. Cup Event.

Meaning... that it currently has 3 people registered? At $20 (first event) + $20 registration. Not sure that's something I'd be bragging about.... :)

Note: the above might be misinterpretations, FRED seems to be down currently.

Because of the limit of 2 events per day per fencer (which I think is a good thing), some of the ACFA women and Youth 14 fencers are choosing to compete in some of the more competitive events, rather than the women's epee and Y14 mixed foil competitions. While women's epee may be very small and Y14 mixed foil lacks some of the local division's more experienced Y14 fencers, it looks like the other events should be pretty good.

Yes, Women's epee in our are is small but the other epee events are mixed. hopefully a few more Women epee fencers will attend.

The other events are good but not as good as it has been in past years. hopefully even MORE fencers will continue to sign up in the next month before the event.

This is ALWAYS a top quality event and we hope everyone will make plans to attend.

The sabre event is looking kind of anemic. Is it likely to make a solid D1 at least?

    What equipment will be checked?

Will there be enough space at the venue for warm-up bouting?

Finally, will the t-shirt be cool?

It might make D1 status. If you come, can you bring some fencers for sabre? That would help lots. We don't have a huge sabre force in our division.

All equipment will be checked. Is that different from any other medium/large tournament?

There is usually enough space for warm-up.

Not sure about the T shirts. I personally have not seen them. I'm sure Matt can chime in.

Our Sabre is slowly growing, witrh a few more rated people it could become a C level event. I believe it will reach D1 at least which is GREAT for our area.

The open events are all looking great! We would love to see a few more people from CO attend this year.

Mask, lame, and body cords will be inspected at the armory and everything will be visibly instected on the strip. We will run the event with all certified staff and all certified referees and all USFA rules; this is our warm-up for Nationals and we'll make things as close to that layout as possible.

There will be space for warming up and bouting, bring your coach and coaching gear!

This year we are in the process of designing a really cool shirt and getting away fromthe Texas Flag shirt that we have been modifying for the last few years.

If anyone has ANY questions please post them here or shoot me an e-mail matt.hite@amaisd.org

Matt could use 2 more sabre fencers to make it a D level event. I know there are 14 preregistered, but there is one fencer that is not planning on coming. Hopefully he can get those last few fencers.

One of those 14 is me, now. I'm going to come down; bit of vacation, change of pace, etc. I should have at least one other sabreur with me. Maybe two, we'll see.

You mention in a previous post that the Crown will have Y14 Mixed Epee but it does not list Y14 Mixed Epee on AskFRED. It does have Y14 Mixed FOIL.

Don't forget that Youth 14 events will only be rated if it is a C1 or better tournament. Merely having 15 fencers does not make it rated. Y14 Foil still needs one C and two D's to get to a C1 event right now. ACFA does have one D rated fencer who is eligible to fence Y14 but, because of the limit of two events per day, he will be fencing in another event instead. We also have an E and a U who are opting out of Y14 foil in order to fence another event. Should another C and D sign up from elsewhere and make the event rated C1, they might reconsider and switch events, but that is somewhat speculative right now.

I doubt seriously that the Women's Epee will make 15 fencers and a D1 rating. It might make an E1 with 6 fencers, but considering that there are two D's already signed up, there is not much incentive to compete in a tournament with 4 to 6 fencers.

There is NO Y14 epee at the Crown.

Jay, thanks for your continued support of our events. It's going to be great to have you as a division officer next season because you always help, promote and attend all the division events. Your going to be a great vice-chair.

As for the Crown, the event is really shaping up. Hope to see a lot more people attending. Our refere staff is not full with 15 referees. We will have either 8-9 grounded strips and will be running on ALL favaro boxes. Jerry Benson will be the lead referee this year.

I look forward to seeing everyone at our event in a few weeks.

10 days away and the event is growing well. If you have not taken a chance to get your tickets yet, I think you should. Hope to see a few more of you pre-register and I'm looking forward to seeing all of you that have already pre-registered.
