| In the SWS, we have 51 epee A's with several attending college outside of the section (A. Adjemian, K. Anthony, T. Hurme, E. McGarry and others), so I estimate that we have about 38 active A's in our region. About half of the A fencers in our region showed up at the POUJ (a few more only fenced women events):
21 A's
E. Barrera, D. Bayarena, J. Bibb, N. Brandfield-Harvey, R. Hurme, E. Hurme, E. Kelley, Z. Krudy, M. LoParco, J. Moreau, J. Parker, R. Reed, C. Rogers, R. Sexton, D. Smith, D. Trapani, N. Williams, S. Wright, and N. Mittal.
Two A visitors: J. Elliott (Nevada), D. Rees (Colorado).
All but one A was on the top 34. There were two U's in the top 32 who earned a B06 (returning to fencing after 8 years), and a C06 (a visiting italian fencer).
We had 21 A's, 8 B's, and 7 C's, a total of 69 fencers, and the top 12 fencers were 11 A's and 1 B, thus, fulfilling A4 tournament level.

| E. Barrera, R. Sexton and N. Brandfield-Harvey did not make the 32. Then again, given the A density (and B quality) we have, that's not a terrible showing for them. (Unlike a certain person in the Longhorn... ) |

| Hey there guys, my name is Mike Beavers and I actually attend Texas State, the venue for this tournament, and fenced in the Pouj. Can I get a quick run down of what you liked and disliked? We have quite a few tournaments a year in that same gym so any input on making things smoother or less stressful will be passed along... |

Micek (a good B05) from Salle Mauro was 58 and fenced Sexton. In a very good bout, he eliminated him by a touch and running out of time.

For that matter, so would posting the initial seeding, and pool assignments in the venue before fencing starts.

| David,
Initial seedings and pool assignments were posted before fencing in all the events that I attended. Mixed epee started only about 15 minutes after closing registration. There was only half an hour between pools and DEs. By 2:30pm, the table of 8 was being fenced after closing registrations at 9 am. Not bad for 69 fencers, 11 pools, and an A4 epee tournament. There was no shortage of referees on Sunday.

| Jose,
In the two events my fencers competed in (Mixed Sabre and Women's Sabre) not everything was posted. For Mixed Sabre, neither the listing with pool assignments or the results after pools was posted. For Women's Sabre, the initial seeding, the pool asignments and the results after pools were also not posted. The table of for DE's in both cases was posted.
No complaints about the efficiency though, it did run quickly.

| Yea, Im not sure why only foil is posted on Fred.....Ill check on that tonight at club. As for the sabre stuff, the only thing I can think of is that it may have been posted upstairs, while all the sabre fencing was done downstairs. If you did check and it wasnt posted anywhere, then I will definitely pass along that no seedings were posted.
Usually efficiency is something we are quite good at, so Im glad you guys appreciate that. I personally cant stand when the people running the tournament dont know how to do it smoothly from pools to DEs and from one event to the next.
As far as Esper and Ray, it was sad to see them get knocked out so early, especially after Esper's performance at the NAC. But sometimes, as in any sports, it just comes down to luck of the draw. I was happy, though, to see that my coach, J. Moreau, did well. I only get to see him fence every so often, so this weekend was a real treat. I also fence with R. Reed and C. Rogers on an almost daily basis, so it was great to see them take #1 and #2.

| Speaking from experience with TSU tournaments, I like going to them because they do run quickly and smoothly, but there is a certain information deficiet (sp?) sometimes, as with the WS this weekend, proportionally in the smaller events. It has DEFINITELY gotten enormously better over time, and I always forget to tell that to Will and Amy - I wasn't in any position to judge, my first couple tournies there, but I can tell there's been a vast improvement.
