Array Barring disaster, I'll be there, Div II and III sabre. And Vet. Won't know how many days until they post the schedule, but if it's anything like Sandy they'll probably spread it out so I have to take Friday and Monday off from work again...sigh. Array My original plans were to do both Div II and III events, but now I'm, thinking: Fence all the Div IIIs, direct the Div IIs.
It really depends on the schedule. -

Array I've pretty much decided to go, though I can only fence the Vet WS. I can't make plans until I see the schedule, though. -
I am!
This will be my first NAC!
I'll fence epee and foil.
Need to check out the schedule to consider how many events I can fence!
Can you tell I'm excited? I live to fence and fence to live!! -

Array Barring catastrophe, I'll be there for a couple of days. Reno's about the limit of driving for non-nationals/Div I NAC competitions for me. I'm trying to drag some of my students out too, but that's a bit more iffy.
Div II men's epee, baby. Oh yeah. -

Array ME!! I'm going for my first NAC also. Right now it looks like vet WE, maybe I'll do foil too. But I have decide to stay the entire time regarless of what events I compete in.
I wish they would hurry up and post the information..... CAUTION: The heart is a fragile thing. Handle with care. -

Array I am going to be there. Maybe we can have a tailgate party at the KOA campground where I am staying at. Break out the Barabcue grill. The campground is at the hotel.

Array Does anyone know what the venue is? And which hotels to stay at? CAUTION: The heart is a fragile thing. Handle with care. -

Array I will probably go. This will be my first NAC also. I'll do DIV III foil. Do alot of competitors come to the NAC's? Such a newbie question huh? I just hope there are some good hotel rates and easy to get to and from the venue. -

Array Well, it's a newbie question only in that you can see the answer yourself by just going to the USFA website and checking the results.
I'm guessing that the tournament will be held at the Reno Hilton, which has a huge convention center attached to it. Nice place, although it's out of the ways from the rest of Reno. -
Ime not going whitch realy stinks. -

Array Hey, question for anyone. Is it worth going to a NAC if you haven't entered any tournaments yet? By the time Reno rolls around I'll probably be able to get in a couple of local tournaments but I'm not sure if that'll be enough experience to go to a NAC. Come Feb will be my 1 year mark in Fencing. I try to go once-a-week at least to practice and if I have time, 2 or 3 times in the same week. My Fencing is ok, but probably not up to national standards. It is after all a championship. My question is, to compete in a NAC a Fencer should have many tournament experiences to make it worthwhile for he/she right? -

Array If you want to and can afford it, by all means, go. The experience is valuable, the vendors will be there, you will meet lots of people, and since it's a Div II and III there will be plenty of fencers of your level there.
P.S. NAC stands for North American Cup. It isn't a "championship", the errors of newspaper articles to the contrary notwithstanding. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array I'm backkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk - yes I will be going to Reno. My first tournament this season thanks to a very unpleasant mishap at the start of the season. Cutter

Array Maybe that's why I thought it was a championship. I should've known better, since I get the USFA newsletters and magazines. hehe. I need to think about it some more but would really like to go. -

Array Wll...with the loss of my job, the only way I'll be going is is my business picks up dramatically in the next month or so.
However, since all excess profits will most likely go to paying bills, it doesn't look too likely...damn it. Similar Threads -
