| Barbed wire, or chicken? brrump-ching!
(sorry, couldn't resist)
Here's link to fencing clubs in Texas from the USFA website...don't see one in Huntsville right off the bat, but poke around in the Houston (gulf coast) listings and see what yo can find. http://usfencing.org/do/clublist?state=TX
Maybe some of the Texas folks can give you more info.

| I don't know of any located in the town itself, although I'll ask the GC people...
Bayou City Fencing Academy has a location in The Woodlands which Google Maps says is an hour away. Not close, but lots of people here travel further. http://www.fencingacademy.com
Alliance Fencing Academy's location in The Woodlands is slightly closer, at 54 minutes. http://www.alliance-fencing-academy....Woodlands.html
I don't know anything personally about BCFA, but ALL is a good place with lots of top fencers. |

I don't know anything personally about BCFA, but ALL is a good place with lots of top fencers Bayou City, 85 fencers listed on askfred- one B, one C, one D, four E's in foil
three B's and two E's in Epee
one D in saber, and all the U's you can use.
They have many locations (six?), so all these fencers may not be in the Woodlands when you want to fence. Alliance, 103 fencers on askfred-one B, one C, three D's and an E in foil
eight A's, three B's,10 C's,7 C's, one D, and 5 E's in epee
an A, B, C and E in saber. Plenty of U's as well. They only have two locations, and as with BCFA, it depends on date and location-but odds are better you'll have a deeper pool of fencers at Alliance on any given night.
Of course, I'd check their websites and see what their coaches qualifications are, then decide where you might want to fence.
Good luck! |

| It comes down to what you want, I guess. The other club is Texas A&M over at College Station, roughly the same distance away. However, as a college place they may be a bit tricky to get in with.
What weapon are you looking for and when are you planning to do it (moving, business trip, etc)? |

| As a matter of fact, I belonged to the BCFA for a few years, out of all of the places I've gone to, I enjoy the BCFA the most. The Coaches are great and they know what they are doing, unfortunatly I think most of them went to the alliance (BOO!)
I lived in hunstville T.X for 14 years, now I'm in wyoming (go figure). But if you are interested, you should definately join, although I'm not sure how well it is doing, I heard once I left that Shawn Wright, Max Fitzerald and Alexandra Bullard left. Although BCFA still has Andrew Derksen. |

| Thanks for everyone's comments. I am considering a job at SHSU and believe it or not, the available of fencing is a factor! Go figure. This sport is too addictive. |

| At one time, there was a club at SHSU (about 10 years ago was the last I'd heard anything about them or not). I think they also have PE classes going, or at least used to

| I think everyone has pretty much covered the nearest clubs at this time. I know of one or two high-school aged Houston area fencers who have since started at SHSU. I can try to dig up some old emails and see if they still work.
Also we have a parallel thread on your request on the Gulf Coast forum. Fell free to visit here: Texas Gulf Coast Fencing Forum - Clubs: General
I believe the last incarnation of a fencing club at SHSU dissipated around 1994. |
