| i've been using it for around 4 months. I love it! the crinkly coating is great and gives a surer grip..but after an hour of hard fencing my hands hurt from rubbing against it. otherwise... it gives good feel and good control, at least for me. theoretically you could get the LP belgium and tape up the part where your little finger rests on. it'll cost much less.
oh... i found that i can actually pommel with it, with my index around the forward prong and the rest wrapped around the main part of the grip. gives about an extra inch of reach.

| Pommelling with any grip other than a french grip is illegal, to be exact. |

| actually for the g-pro grip it'd take a rather observant referee to catch you pommelling with it. it's simply not very obvious. do referees take note on how the fencers hold their grips?

| I don't know that I consistantly do, but I have noticed people pommelling (and even not pommelling with a french grip). I also note what kind of grips people use when they present their weapon to me (caught a guy with tape on his pistol grip at the beginning of this month).
Pommelling could be disallowed with an Italian grip. The rule states: Quote:
If the grip (or glove) includes any device or attachment or
has a special shape (orthopaedic) which fixes the position
of the hand on the grip, the grip must conform to the
following conditions.
(a) It must determine and fix one position only for the
hand on the grip.
| Somebody could argue that the Italian grip offers an attachment to fix the hand on the grip, at least as much as Belgian and other obviously "orthopedic" grips do. I wouldn't want to make the arguement, but someone could. |

| KD5MDK,
Two questions:
1. Tape would only be disallowed on epees, right? Not clear from the thread in which weapon it was that WhipLash has been illicitly pommeling w/ his GPro.
2. Doesn't an italian grip require the use of a wrist strap (presumably to fix hand position)? |
