| Hi new poster here. Hi
I'm new to the forum, although I have been fencing about a year. I live in Wisconsin and fence at Caliburn fencing club. I am 36 years old. I am also into renaissance faires, ice hockey, playing music, highland games and anything ancient and Celtic. I wear and make kilts. I look forward to interesting discussions on the boards here.
sir alasdair aka Kirk
P.S. Yes, I have fenced in my kilt. |

| Unfortunately, No I don't play the pipes. Wish I had the following things so I could - money to purchase them, time to learn, and some deaf neighbors.
Thanks for the welcome!

| Welcome to the boards! Sounds like you have a varied set of interests. So tell me... is it true that chicks dig the kilt?

| Yes,
yes they do. esp. when you have muscular calves and legs like most fencers do - right? My legs are in good shape already from years of playing hockey and my jobs in that time period. (Coca-Cola delivery, Siding warehouse)
Have I "overshared"?

I know, In fencespeak that's like saying "beginner" but I like the weapon, the rules and the target area. I also benefit from the fact that my club is very foil-oriented and I get to learn from people like Joe Biebel and my friend Dave Neevel who I have known since I was 5 years old. As far as sport fencing goes, it resembles true dueling the best in my opinion. Some would say epee, but when dueling, I wouldn't be focusing on the opponent's wrist and forearm as a primary target.
just my opinion...

| foil doesn't mean beginner. The other weapons just give each other trouble out of pride. "What do you mean head isn't target?". Stuff like that. |

| Welcome Sir Alasdair...
You didn't go to St Andrews University did you*? *Rep to the first person to recognise the joke. I fear it may be a little too scottish and obscure for the board. |

If you like women, date one. Quit encouraging men to become LIKE women.
P.S. Insert disparaging remark about Robert Smith here. |

| I must say, having somebody say they've fenced in a kilt ranks pretty high on my list of "Things I never expected to hear/read."
That takes guts (or something).
Welcome.

| Heh, heh, heh.. All I can say, from the last time I fenced someone wearing a kilt, was if you feint to them in a low line, they'll usually go for it.....
But wearing a foil jacket over a kilt sort of screws up the drape of the fabric on a kilt, I noticed.. |

| Salutations. My brother would enjoy speaking with you. He's way into
our Scottish ancestry. He has the kilt and several Scottish broadswords.
Enjoy your time on fencing.net.
A.J.
P.S. dueling was usually to the first blood, thus it didn't matter where
the blood was drawn. |
