Array Muscle Gain Hi Guys,
I've noticed that since I started fencing (8 months ago)I have gained a slight bit of muscle mass mostly on the right side of my body since i fence right handed. But its more definition than mass. What about you guys? -

Array I'm left handed. My left thigh is about 2 inches more around than my right thigh. All my pants tug around my left butt (the center crease is always hugging part of my left butt).
My left arm is probably an inch more around at the forearm area (near the elbow). My left wrist is bigger than my right. My left thumb muscle is much larger than my right.
That's the life of a fencer. Then again, if you look at some tennis players like Navratilova (sp?), the forearm of her hitting arm is WAY bigger than the other arm. Probably the same with bowlers and maybe baseball pitchers. I think the arm imbalance is typical of any sport that doesn't require both arms to do similar things. -

Array I remember reading a scientific paper in sports medicine documenting the muscle groups that become more asymmetric with fencing. I believe the authors were polish, and their sample of athletes included their national team. Their conclusion was that Epee was the most asymmetric of the three disciplines. If I find it, I would post the reference.
