Array Jose Padilla - "Pa dee ya" or "pa dill a" Why has the media started pronouncing this man's name differently?
If it's "Pa dill a", is his first name "Joe see"? Benjamin Franklin when asked by a woman, "What kind of government have you given us?" Replied, "A Republic Madam, if you can keep it!"

Array Joze, rhymes with 'those.' Just because you have the right, that doesn't mean it is right. -

J is pronounced as an H in spanish. And ll has a y sound. Though according to wikipedia, he had the pronounciation changed. Doesn't really matter, does it? you say potaytoh, I say potahtoh. You say terrorist, I say dumbass. *shrugs* -

Array Yes, but according to reports he ( and presumably his family ) pronounce the double l as an l rather than the y sound customary in Spanish. I have no idea why. But then, there are some pretty peculiar pronunciations of city and town names around, so idiosyncrasies abound everywhere.
There's a meteorologist on...I think it's "The Today Show"...named Sean. And he pronounces it "Seen", not "Shawn". ( Because apparently his parents named an older brother of his Sean, with the "Shawn" pronunciation. Yes, that's right, they gave two of their kids the same name. Either unimaginative, or they REALLY like that name. )
