Looking for electronic foil target board

I am not sure if this is the right place to put this. Its too "techie" for fencing discussion, and not really armourey...so I'll just guess.

A while ago I saw someone using a target board (it looks like a dart board) that lights up in certain areas and you have a certain amount of time to hit it with your foil. It looks like fun to use when there is no one around to practice "point control" on... I didn't have the foresight to ask about it at the time, and now I have lost that exquisite moment. Such is life...

I have looked all over the web and can't find find anything like it. Perhaps I'm not googling the correct words?

Does anyone have a clue about what I am talking about? if so, can someone provide a company name or a place to find it?

I'm already building a fencing dummy. but it is less portable/storable when not in use..

Thanks

Target Speed

Go to PBT and take a look at their Target Speed; I'd supply the link, but that feature is acting a little funny.

These are great but a little pricey...

I wonder the the USFA grant can be used to purchase them?

Lets hope so. I'm not made of endless money so knowing the price was good enough to store away for future reference.

I like to tinker and build things, but I have also learned that some things are cheaper to buy, rather than build. This may not be though.

To provide a relavant example:

I recently built a body cord and weapon tester with a multimeter for about $40.

It looks kind of like this one (I found this after I built mine):

http://www.sword-masters.com/catalog...6fa7f7731c3f29

(I had to buy radioshack parts...argh) I could have probably made it cheaper if I bought the parts on-line.. Still, it beats the $125 it sells for. Would I mass produce them? Nah, but it helps keep the price down on stuff I would like to have, in order to work on my own equipment, then so be it.

nuff sed,

I always hope that someone will post a schematic for something similar to a Target Speed target. It wouldn't have to be that fancy, but just a little dynamic compared to an old-fashion dummy. I am not technically inclined in that way, but alot of other folks around here seem to be.

Here's an idea that I have, but have not actually tried yet. You can buy a toy traffic light at Spencer's/Radio Shack that randomly lights up red, yellow, and green. I think it might be useful to mount something like this next to my dummy, and put red, yellow, and green stickers on various target areas. As the light indicates different colors, you try to hit different targets.

I also have considered trying to modify the electronic game "Simon."

If I'm not mistaken, PBT has one with 4 targets as well. That's kinda interesting

Speaking of Target systems.... I'm digging through my attic, (Soon to be an extra room, once I finish it off over the next two weeks and come across one of the kids old games. The "NERF Tech Target Set"

Here is a link to what it looks like:

Nerf Tech Target Set

I think I can modify the system to work for foil and epee. This will include making it more durable and having the targets be a bit more spaced out and slightly larger.

Has anyone tried this before?

If you can modify it and make it work, I am sure my club will BUY a few from you.

Keep me in mind....
