Hey, I was just curious...I just re-earned my B last weekend and I'm going to Houston this weekend where I'm still listed as a B05, is there anyway to get the update for this tournament or will I just compete as an 05?

There is a cutoff date for applying a rating change for a National event; I believe it is at least one week prior to the event date. In your case, your B06 was not earned prior to January 6 so you'll compete as a B05.

Not a rare occurance. I can think of at least three divisions off the top of my head that held competitions Jan 1st (none of them being mine or bordering mine).
