They've been in power too long, and have fallen prey to the same temptations and compromises that led the Democrats to act fiscally irresponsibly during their own period of long-term majority. I'd even say that the Republicans are acting even more fiscally irresponsibly now.

And they are acting differently than the republican congress that came in under Clinton, certainly.

Other than the 17 months ending in November 2002 (when Democrates had a majority in the Senate), Republicans have held majorities in both the House and Senate since 1995.
