Array What _are_ the equipment requirements for the Quebeck Jr. World Cup? Can someone give me the definitive answer as to what the equipment requirements are for the upcoming Junior World Cup in Quebec (Jan. 22)? This will be one of my students' first fencing outside of the US. She is a womens' epee fencer.
FIE mask?
Lexan mask?
FIE800N jacket and knickers?
FIE blades?
USA on back?
shooting stars on knickers?
Thanks for your help. -
I don't believe you need the shooting stars for junior world cups, and you definitely don't need a lexan mask.
Also an FIE plastron. -

Array An FIE license.
USFA approval. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben -
Fencers must be 13 as of Jan 1, 2006
be current USFA members in good standing
Have current FIE license
I believe you have to use FIE gear, and since it's an FIE tournament..
(from the Canadian Fencing site):
FIE Competitions
28 November 2005, 8 January 2006
All fencers are reminded that for all FIE competitions, the designs of national colours (logos) of national federations on athletes' clothing are compulsory and must be identical on both legs; they are optional on the arm(s) (cf. FIE Publicity code). http://www.fencing.ca -

Array embarasing Oops. I do know how to spell Quebec. I love Canada. I listened to a lot of Rush in the 80s.
As reparation for this horrifying diplomatic miscue, I am withdrawing my support for annexation of Canada as the 52nd state (we already got Puerto Rico, right?).
So, the best answer to my question seems to be full FIE gear but no "colors". Anyone who is even more in the know? -

So, the best answer to my question seems to be full FIE gear but no "colors". Anyone who is even more in the know? The rule about colours is as follows: Originally Posted by PublicityCode The wearing of identical national colours (logos) is compulsory on both legs

all the fencers of the same federation for the following competitions:-
(a) Open, Junior and Cadet World Championships, all bouts, whether in
a pool, in the direct elimination or during a team match.
(b) Senior World Cup individual competitions, all direct elimination bouts
from the last 64 onwards.
(c) World Cup team competitions, all bouts in every team match.
The designs of national colours must be submitted to the FIE for homologation
by the Executive Committee.
Should clothing not conform to the design sent to the FIE (national colours), or
in the case of the absence of name or nationality on the back, the fencer concerned
shall be penalised by a Red Card each time he comes onto the piste
during the competition. The Canadian Fencing Federation has stated that it is required "for all FIE competitions", which seems inaccurate in comparison with the rule cited above -- it clearly states SENIOR world cups, so the only Junior event to require them should be the World Championships. That said, the competition IS taking place in Canada, and it may be best to have the colours to avoid potential confusion. -
