New to the Forum, Old to the Art

Hello all, I'm Allen. Currently living in Columbia, SC. Recently just joined the forum though I have been fencing for almost 10 years now. I started out doing sport fencing my freshman year in college- focused mainly on epee and saber. I started doing research and realized sport fencing is nothing like what was done historically. Since then I have studied and trained in historic European Martial Arts and work with longsword, arming sword, sword & buckler, dagger, grappling, smallsword, cut & thrust, baskethilt broadsword, ect. Pretty much anything prior to 1800's and has a period manual. Every now and then I'll break the old sport stuff out of the back of the closet but I have to restrain myself too much to really enjoy it!

Welcome to the forum, Allen! Although I am only involved in modern fencing, I have utmost respect for people who keep alive the ancient traditions from which our sport evolved. Hope you enjoy your time on f.net!
