Exactly. But what I've noticed is not necessarily does the other person act completely different, but they just only show one (usually minor) side of their personality. That's the only thing they show you for weeks on end and then they don't understand why your upset when they show you this complete other side that contradicts with the person you know. It's irritating to say the least.

It is possible to come away from a relationship unscathed, but it's rare from what I've seen. Even us stalwart tomboys have very little defense against it. *grumble*

BMC - Though what makes thigns sticky is when that desire is unspoken. One person wants to keep it going, the other doesn't. Unfortunately, person B doesn't seem to want to tell person A that.

Literally JUST happened to me not a week ago now. She started to seem like it was ok with her except just today I realize that she's become completely paranoid and now believes that I have a crush on my best friend. So now they're about to go at eachothers throats.

It's going to be really funny to watch though, when my ex takes on my best friend, because my best friend will talk circles around her.
