thanks, The URL seems to have been allowed to die some time around the September World Championships. Nothing about the next one. I did try www.fie.ch but not been able to find anything about Veterans.

Ask the Wife
I mentioned this thread to my wife who came up with the dates of 3-5 september 2006 in Bath. Why bother asking on fencing.net just ask the wife. Here's the URL she directed me to: http://www.european-veterans-fencing.com/

And the Veterans 2006 World Championships
Ok, I'd nothing else to do christmas day after the gifts were given and the food eaten except go satisfy my curiousity.
For all veterans a clip from the Bath Sword Club newsletter:
"2006 World Championships
The World Veterans Championships are coming to Bath on 1-3 September 2006. The event will attract around 400 competitors from five continents.
Fencing will take place in the new £25 million Sports Training Village at Bath University. Social events will use the world famous civic buildings of the City of Bath including the Roman Bath, the Pump Room and the Assembly Rooms.
This is the first veterans World Championship event to be held in the UK. There have only been four fencing world championships held in the UK in the last 50 years so the event is a bit special.
Members of Bath Sword Club will be playing a major part in hosting and running the event. Most of the 100 volunteers required will be associated with the Club.
The committee has decided to support the organisation of this with a donation of £2K towards the £60K cost of staging the championships. The knock on effect of this is likely to be a surge of interest in fencing within Bath with long term benefits to Bath Sword Club as well as helping to up the profile of fencing in Britain."
Well Ok, this may be old news to some of you but I hadn't seen it before. Sounds fun. Wonder if the roman baths will be available for use.

The Roman Baths are not open for bathing, but very interesting to look around (lots of information about the history and engineering) - a must do
I know some of the organisers of the event - they are working VERY hard on the competition and the social side: anybody coming over for the World Veterans will have a real blast

I'm hoping to be one of the people coming over--does this mean you will stop by and say hello?
I've managed to persuade my husband to come with me if I make the team again.

Am sure I will be around, one way or another (since I live 2 miles down the road from the venue...). Am sure that the organisers will be roping us in to "volunteer" too
Assuming you make the team, come over: Bath is a lovely city and the organisers will REALLY look after you - you and your husband will have a fabulous time
Boo
