Rule on switching epee in match

What is the rule concerning switching an epee during a match. I had a referee that refused to allow a switch in the weapon, even though the NAC's allow a switch as long as the new weapon is retested. I noticed that sometimes the tip on the Epee may or may not go off. I always test my weapons before and after a bout.undefined

from my experience, you are allowed to switch weapons during a bout, the director will confiscate the waepon and you can not use it for the rest of the bout. the new one will be tested and will be subject to yellow/red cards if it does not pass the tests. also, if you think your weapon is malfunctioning, the director is the only one to test it, if you test it yourself and find it not working, the point can not be annuled.
