| NE Division Schedule After January I noticed that the neusfa website only has the schedule posted through January and I was wondering if anyone either had a copy of the schedule beyond that or knew when it would be posted. |

| i thought a lot of it was posted on askfred.. http://www.askfred.net/Events
but not really.
at the last exec meeting i was at, there were still a couple dates up in the air, perhaps that's what it's waiting for?
although there was supposed to be another meeting at JO quals, IIRC, so it should be sorted out by now......

| New England has had a long-standing policy of publishing the schedule in two parts -- the fall schedule which typically runs through the end of January, which comes out late August/early September, and the spring schedule which typically comes out a week or so into January. No reason to expect the second half of the schedule yet, but expect to see it in your mailbox (and on the website) in about 2 weeks.

-B | Thanks Brad. On top of things as usual.
Anyone wouldn't happen to know when the beanpot is going to be, would they? I know it's usually late january/early feb, so it'll be in feb this year, but does anyone know anything more specific? |

| MP,
That's what the appeals process is for.
And as for Telk's schedule, I have a couple differences from what he's got... who knows who is right... but we'll find out when the newsletter comes out.
here are my differences:
Telk Me
4/15&16 C&Under @ PdF D&Under @ PdF
4/22 D&Under @ NoHo (4/22&23) C&Under @ NoHo
and something is seriously wrong with my version of the division champs
Telk has sabre on 6/3 and foil and epee on 6/4... I have epee on 6/3, foil on 6/4 with women's sabre... i don't have a MS event listed... oops...
Once I hear if this is the final schedule, I'll put it on the website and askfred.

| yeah, at the meeting in November we were discussing which weekend should be the C and which should be the D, and where they should be.
i think the logic is that Sacremento is div1, which means that some Cs might want to go to both the C and under and the nac, so make them different weekends, since it didn't really matter to either Dave or I which was which, and we were the ones there, but it wasn't official official until Linda talked to Scott or Taro or someone.....
Should I call/email Linda or Jeff about div2/3 quals??
I mean, i know chances are that, yet again this year, i'll qual for div 3 (but just barely) and get really angsty about it, and yet again decide not to go........... but every year i get closer to actually going to nationals. and i wanna fence quals, even if i don't go........

Actually, I'm fairly certain that I've seen something official from the USFA that stated that such appeals would not be accepted (I briefly looked around just now and failed to find it again). Something to the effect that divisions should take all pains to avoid scheduling qualifiers opposite national events, but in the case that such happens it is the fencer's responsibility to make the choice of what event to attend.
Not to say that it wouldn't be an accepted petition, but if it were up to me it certainly would be denied.
Perhaps drop a note to the scheduling committee and see if they could flip weekends for D2/3 and Y14. Since the NYC SYC has moved to May they could do that.

| I just heard back from linda... what I have is the final schedule that was sent to the printers for the newsletter already... so i don't think anything can really change...
Not fencing the qualifier sucks... but if you appeal it will get approved (you qualified last year, and since then have at least one good result to back up the fact that you would have qualified again this year)...

-B | It's in Section 2.8 of the USFA Athlete Handbook. The way I read this, I think that this applies only to choosing between a NAC and a USFA Qualifier, but that's just my opinion. |

| Well... interesting (I just thought I remembered a similar situation with UNH the year that club championships were in Florida, and remember hearing how they were just going to petition anyway)... I'd say e-mail linda and see what she can do. I'll send her e-mail address to your PM box.

The athlete must decide in which competition (s)he wishes to compete. An appeal will not be approved if the athlete decides to fence in the NAC rather than the qualifying competition. | I think that's a fairly clear precident.

-w | ... i didn't qualify last year, because i chose not to go, because i was taking finals that weekend, or something... i know either the week before or the week after i had pulled 2 or 3 all nighters in the space of a week.... so... yeah.
i mean, i WOULD HAVE qualified, had i shown up, i just didn't.
i did, however, qualify in 2004..............
I emailed Linda, she said to petition.
