Array Yeah, 37.5% is a pretty steep rise. I think they figured they'd have to do that to make up for the revenue they'll lose by going to C-and-above Div I NACs. To the extent that supply and demand operate in the fencing world, the price hike itself may well reduce entries even further, though, so even that may not be enough...
Oh, well. No one ever advertised this sport to me as being inexpensive. Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array What they where trying to do was to bring the NAC's Into line with the Summer Nats and Jo's but the reverse the fees. Normally the res fee for Nats And Jo was 40.00 and event fees was 30.00. Write and email the office and let them know that at 40.00 event is to much. This I know will effect my family as to how many events they are going to fence. With 7 fencers in the family that adds up quickly.

Array the costs of overhead have gone up, everything has gone up, that's probably the reason. but it seems like a small fee.

Array In the grand scheme of things, the $15 increase is nothing. For most of us (Time Loomis and family not included), here are the costs associated with a fencing tournament:
1. Transportation to airport ($20-25 each way)
2. Airfare ($250-400)
3. Hotel ($90-110/night)
4. Food ($40/day)
5. Hooker ($3.50-52.75 depending on city)
6. Some new equipment ($30-200)
In view of that, the $15 increase is just noise. Get someone to drive you to the airport, join in with three others for a taxi to the venue, eat at a Spaghetti Factory instead of a Morton's of Chicago, Paula Jones instead of Jennifer Flowers, and you'll save way more than the $15 (or $30 if you compete in multiple events).
I just wish that some of that increase goes to paying the referees a bit more than the lousy $40/day.
