    Div I NAC qualification

I looked up the info on qualifying for Div 1 NACs and couldn't find much. Is there a minimum classification required? The rules posted on-line are from 1999 - have the rules changed since then?

For the NACs (not Nationals) you must have a minimum of a D rating.

Thanks for the info - Is that the only qualification needed?

    As far as I know.

You need a "D" rating, Your name on your uniform, a plastron, equipment that passes inspection, and a willingness to hit others as they hit unto you.

Plus $55, or whatever they decide to charge next year.

As a side question, is the April NAC really the div I national championships this coming year or is it a NAC? Something that Yuri Gelman said in Sacramento implied that it might be the championships. The World Championships are in August next year (as opposed to November this year) and they want the teams set well in advance.

If it's the championships that obviously changes the qualifying requirements.

Good question. I can't find it in the Athlete's Handbook or the Ops Manual, though that doesn't mean it isn't there. But you can read it in the September 1999 Board of Directors meeting minutes at the USFA website. It was announced on page 2 of the Summer 2000 national newsletter, also available at the website. It was in effect for the 2000-2001 season and was the reason for adding an additional II/III NAC so that competitors who had not yet earned a D had good competition and a chance to earn the rating, and why they renamed the Open NACs "Division I NACs."

Found it. 2001-2002 Athletic Programs Handbook. Appendix A, page A-3 at the bottom of the schedule.

In the planning calendar for next year on the website the Louisville event April 26-28 2002 is listed as: Division I Nationals/NAC Youth.

Funny, I hadn't noticed that the first time, when I was copying the dates into my planner.

Funny, they changed the planning schedule on us. I had it that the event was on the week before, April 19-21 in Louisville, and it was just a Div I/Youth NAC.

Oh well. Gotta fix my division's planning schedule.

Hey! Where did you get THAT!

Normally, it's not approved and published until a little later in the summer!

It doesn't seem to up on the website, either.

I would like to get it from you, if you don't mind.

I think the 2000-2001 copy is the one meant--the information is in that location there.
