| Petition to Recall Jacques Rogge, head of the IOC .... Sorry, just kidding... I thought a 3rd thread on petitions would be nice.
Do you want to recall Jacques Rogge? He's not a fencer and I think only fencers or former fencers should be head of the IOC. Plus he speaks French with a funny Belgian accent.

| Actually, I was reasonably sure it had been said on here that he was a former fencer. Epeeist, perhaps? |

| No I think he was a sailor... One of those unfaithful ones!! There was another candidate against him at the IOC election who was a former fencer, I think, but I can't remember his name.

| The IOC webpage also says he was on the Belgian National Rugby Team. Ah ha! Now we know why all of a sudden he's fighting desperately to get golf and rugby on the Olympic menu. Conflict of interest and conspiracy.

I'm pretty sure I heard Rogge does not like fencing.
That's ok though, because Roch doesn't seem to like it very much either!

| I think the petitions should all go in the politics section instead of the fencing threads. |

Those that have fenced are:
1. Jean of Luxembourg, prince of Luxenbourg
19. Bashir Attarabulsi, chairman of the Libyan NOC
33. Franco Carraro, former chairman of Milan FC, Italian NOC, Mayor of Rome
40. Pal Schmitt, fencing team Olympic Gold -68 and -72, member of IOC executive committe
46. Albert of Monaco, chairman of Monaco´s pentathlete union
71. Antonio Rodriguez, founder of Argentine Olympic academy
75. Thomas Bach, former member of German fencing national team (epee, IIRC)
79. James Easton - listed as FIE chairman from USA (this was before RR)
Numbers refer to their IOC seniority. There were 111 IOC members at the time (8 years ago), and some have left since then. Thomas Bach was a contender against Rogge. In addition to those 8 with fencing experience, there were numerous IOC members from strong fencing countries.
There! Now I can dump that paper, never gotten around to post the infor before now. Better late than never.
Have a nice time!

| Yes, and the candidate in question was indeed Thomas Bach. Thanks for finding out!
