Array Age... Followed with topic before...
How many categories exist and ages of competitors, separate with categories of foil, epee, sabre?
When is fencer ready for FIE licence? Depens of individual or group and time?
Btw, I like this forum very much.
I found very interesting topics and advices. Thank You -
It depends on the Fencing Federation you're in. At the international level, the categories are:
Cadet (Under 17)
Junior (Under 20)
Senior
Veterans 50-59
Veterans 60 and older.
These categories exist for men and women, in all three weapons. There are also team events in each.
When you say FIE license, you mean fencing membership, not refereeing, correct? I don't know how things are managed in Serbia, so I cannot advise you there, although I will say probably sooner than in the United States, where many fencers don't have the chance to leave the US for tournaments. -

Array I think you have to be 13 on Jan 1 of the year of the next World Championships to get a license and fence in that season's events.
Same thing for the age of the Cadet/Jr events...no older than 16 on Jan 1, 2006 to fence in the 2005-2006 season for Cadets, no older than 19 for Juniors. 2006, as the World Championships for that season will be held in that year, I believe. -

Array For cadet, you'd have to be 16, no older, on Jan 1, 2006 to be fencing in events leading up to the Cadet World champs in 2006 in Korea. "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

Shoot.....so this is my last year to have a chance of getting into the top 16 cadet standings, and go to a cadet WC (the one in Bonn, Germany). "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe.
