If your opponent is wearing a sabre mask, complain at every hit against, and get your point annulled -- your epee can ground itself out.

The Referee must take note of possible failures in the electrical equipment and must annul the last hit registered in the following circumstances:

(b) If a hit properly made by the competitor against whom the hit was registered does not cause the apparatus to go off.

With most machines that I've seen, a sabre mask can cause a valid hit not to register (particularly hits to the bib). As such, if your opponent is wearing a sabre mask on such a machine, you can have each and every one of their hits annulled, if you so choose. (In fact, it's the referee's duty to annul the hits ...)
