    Stenciling Lame

How long does it usually take to stencil a lame? I'm going to NAC D in Houston, and I'm going to get there the night before my event so I'm wondering if it's at all possible to get my lame stenciled the morning of my event. If not, do you guys have some suggestions as to what I should do/where I should go? I will be in San Fran for about 3 weeks, then I will be in Los Angeles for 4-5 days before flying to Houston. Thanks

Contact American Fencers and see if they can do it. Or mail it to the Marxes.

There should be at least one vendor at the NAC doing stencilling in addition to Marx Enterprises, if Pittsburgh was any indication. There seems to have been an explosion of competition in this service recently ( albeit there seems to be no interest in price competition---$20 seems to be universal ).

Given the expanded capacity, there should be no delay in getting your lame done if you get there early and your event doesn't kick off at 8 a.m. If you aren't fencing Friday and you get there before fencing is done that evening you might try taking it in the day before.

As Bill says, you have plenty of time to send the lame out to have it done.Or, you could try doing it yourself---a set of stencils ( be sure they're the right size! ) and a dark blue fabric dye ( not paint ) from an arts and crafts store...

or call him to see when he'll be set up at Houston. (503-277-2237)

Marx gets a thumbs-up for me for customer service. At the Miami NAC I bought a new lame and dropped it off for stenciling, but I'd run out of cash, couldn't find a Bank of America ATM, and hadn't brought my checkbook - and they don't take credit cards. Oops. But they very nicely said "No problem - just mail us a check when you get home!"

Which I did, the very first thing when I got home
