Clip to join Prieur cord/Uhlmann socket

Does any one know of a clip that will join a Prieur body cord to an Uhlmann two prong foil socket? (Other than a rubber band, which is my coaches solution...)

You can use the plastic Prieur clip that you would use with a Prieur socket but you have to do some work on it with a file or exacto knife to get the clip opening large enough to fit around the Uhlmann base. Your best bet, for both ease of use and retention, would be to by a German style head socket, like this and just replace the Prieur style foil end socket. Or you could just get a decent body cord, like the LP or the Negrinni.

Uh....Cville? The Prieur clip never fits properly on a PRIEUR cord....why would you think it would ever work on an Uhlmann bracket?

Emerritt....best to get an Uhlmann plug head like Cville said.

On the other hand....my body cord (when it comes out in January) will have a Prieur-based plug head, but with an Uhlmann retaining clip built in....

You can jerry-build a clip using a keyring. Not one of the split ones, but one of the cheap wire ones. Run the wire through the hole in the socket post. If there's no hole, just hook it in between the projecting pin sockets. Stretch the wire loop out until it will fit over the body cord plug. Voila. It works pretty well because of the springiness of the wire, albeit it can be a pain to slip on and off.

I recommend small size thingies that women use on their pony tails. You can get a bunch for a buck in various colors.

Note that when doing this with a foil be very careful not to create a short between the B-line pin and anything else metallic. I'm not clear on the exact mechanics of the suggestion to "hook it in between the projecting pin sockets", but it sounds like there might be a problem with it -- potential if not actual.

Be aware that the uhlmann sockets with prier plugs, or prier plugs with uhlmann sockets are not particularly reliable because they are different lengths, and you can get a loose connection. This occurs because the "fat part" of the plug doesn't line up with the thin part of the body of the socket. I recommend you DON'T mix components like this; change the cord to an Uhlman cord, or change the socket to a Prier socket.

That's true, I have only used this for sabre...but then again, that was back before they went to the shorted socket. Hmm.

Still, it never gave me a problem. YMMV.
