After all these years...

After at least 15 years since the last time I fenced and almost 40 years since the first time I fenced (gasp! - can it be that long?), I've decided that I'm ready to return to fencing (whether or not fencing is ready for me is another question). Things certainly have changed since I started: the "flick" has come (and, with new timings, nearly gone), saber has been electrified, and the general style of fencers has changed (whether or not for the better is the subject of some discussion). I entered my first competition since 1967 - won a few bouts and had a blast - and am looking forward to fencing a lot more now that I'm retired.

This site is great! The posts are thoughtful and informative, as I would expect from fencers. I hope to interact with many of you over the coming years.

Errrh... You haven't met our resident troll Reverse Lunge yet I see... (just being playful).

Welcome to the forum and back to the sport. You'll find many of us (such as I) started fencing later in life and like you, there are several here who have returned to the sport.
