The only way to get shot of your gut is to lose weight.
That means burning off more energy than you're taking in.
More exercie, less calories.

Nothing else works, except surgery.

Also are you male or female - men, in particular, may get a bit of a belly through drinking...

yea i agree beer is the ultimate killer of a good stomach.

Try eating something small for one of your three meals a day like for example a hot drink for breakfast.

Your stomach will soon disapear!

Good luck

#1 Dont even try situps.
#2 Eat 6 medium sized meals a day rather than 3 bigguns
#3 Excercise your transverse abdominals by sort of sucking your stomach in. Strong trans can give the effect of a flatter stomach.
#4 Do some cardio.

You got it all wrong - it's not through drinking, it's for drinking. Now, if I could lose the belly and still take in as much vodka with as little ill effects, wouldn't that be something

I'd say (after watching a lot of "Nip/Tuck" lately) - try liposuction.

Two things:

1) Flab sits over top of muscle. So any ab exercise isn't going to help you reduce your belly mass.

2) The only way to eliminate excess body fat is to reduce your caloric intake significantly below your caloric output. Men, on average, burn 1500 calories per day just maintaining body weight, so you need to be below 1500 calories per day to lose weight. For women, it's 1000. Depending on your exercise you can increase or decrease this number.

As well, burning fat requires lots and lots of water so drink plenty of it(if you're peeing clear, you're drinking enough water).

If your coach is any good, ask them and they should give you a diet that will get you to your target. If not, speak to a dietician.

Sticking to the diet though, is often more difficult then it sounds.

Hope this helps.

James.

By the way, "fit" is a relative term. A body is "fit" depending on what the goal is. For example, if your intent is to sit on the couch all day and only get up to go to the 'fridge and bathroom, then a potato-like shape is certainly "fit" enough.

Traditional crunches will define your abs but won't do much for the gut. For that, you need other exercises such as lying flat on your back with your legs parallel to the floor, lifting them slowly, and lowering them slowly. There are several other exercises that address the lower abs.

YMMV.

What exercises work best vary by gender, age, body composition, etc.

this is a very dangerous outing. reduce caloric intake.... If you decide to do so, make sure you do it the right way. In other words, read about it first, before you start doing just something.
Increase exercise frequency / intensity: yep, absolutely right too. Gotta do it the right way too though, again.

Just read yourself smart. There are a lot of magazines/websites that offer enough information on how to get rid of your belly. If you're a member of a fitness club, ask the personal trainer to put together a program for you.

Although I think, it can be done without program. Just gotta stick your mind to it.

Oh, that's easy. One of my dance teachers gave me tips on this years ago and I find it helps- best way to get flat stomach muscles is to concentrate on sitting up straight and tightening your stomach muscles. All the time. While typing, for example, or driving, or just sitting around. You know- the way you do when you want to look skinnier. You're actually making yourself smaller when you do that (only you won't notice unless you do it a lot).
Pilates and such also helps.

Also I feel silly because D+F+P=Hadouken! already mentioned what I just said. But it's true. It works. I mean.... I don't actually work out much, and I eat huge amounts of food constantly.....and, well.....

See attached picture (and don't laugh at me too much. It was 3 am at the end of a long week and my roommate had a camera)

Oh yeah, and you are doing something wrong. Normal situps make your stomach bigger.

I'll keep that in mind. On the pic though: That room seems messier then mine. And once again, you are a very beautiful young woman, BMC.

he he he. I mean- they make bulky rather than, ah, flat muscles. Of course, it also depends on how you do them. My goal in doing stomach excercises is usually balance rather than strength and I'm usually trying to avoid a six pack, so it's a bit different.......

That's because you are a girl. The other 49% of us want a six pack, and you girls seem to like it.
