Array is this for Epee or Sabre? If you find a path with no obstacles, it doesn't lead you anwhere.

The rectangular cutouts are for sabre, although I have never seen anyone use the sabre guage in the US.
The semi circular cutout on the other side is for the space between the top of the barrel and the point.
The semi circle at the front is for the risidual travel test. -
Armorer
Array If you are a fencer and not an Armorer or an organizer for a tournament, the best place to get shims is Sears, Auto Zone, etc. NOT your fencing suplier.
The problem with fencing shims for fencers is 2-fold first they are Go/No Go guages. The will supposedly tell if your weapon will pass, but how well. It would show the same results if the weapon BARELY passed when depressed completely or just under 0.5 mm of travel after a touch. A better way is to use several of the guages from an Automotive guage to get a range. Also remember if the guage on the strip is slightly thin like let us say 0.48 and your guage is PERFECT at 0.50 and your weapon passes with your guage and fails with the shims on the guage. That is at least a Yellow Card. That is the OFFICIAL weight.
Also weight the weight you bought and make sure it is heavy. I suggest at least 10 grams. You won't know the difference between 750 and 760. I have been to a few tournaments where the weights used have never been tested. I have been to a tournament where I tested the weight that WAS going to be used were 580 for Foil and 778 for Epee. These weights had been used at other tournaments. Donald Hollis Clinton, Jr. DHCJr@juno.com
