fencing finally gets on ESPN

I done seen it all!! That’s right. There was fencing on ESPN this morning around 11 or so. Don’t get too excited, though. It was mixed in with a piece about cheating in sports. It was about some Russian guy who rigged his epee (pronounced by the announcer as “EP – PAAAY) to go off when he pushed a button in the bell guard. Oh well, I guess we’ll have to take whatever exposure what we can get.

Yeah, and it wasn't even in fencing, but in Pentathlon.

But did anyone catch the commentator's final remark on that case of sports cheating: He said "Crime does not epee" Not bad for a nonfencer.

Is there a reason that fencing gets so many bad puns when reported on news, "foiled again" being the most egregious?

And "touche". Uh...
