Array Battle To Baghdad: The Fight For Freedom BATTLE TO BAGHDAD: THE FIGHT FOR FREEDOM.....THE BOARD GAME?!
"The US invasion of Iraq is now being played out all around the world. Jiggi Games has incorporated the events of the Iraq war into a reality board game.
Each player commands 3000 troops as you battle your way through Iraq. You will take out airports, night bomb cities, hunt down Saddam Hussein, and take over Baghdad...but look out! this game is full of rebel attacks, car bombers, snipers, and other sorts of danger."
yes, its a BOARD GAME OF THE INVASION OF IRAQ! Stunning though this may sound, www.jiggigames.com have in fact devised a board game where players command US forces battling through Iraq. No one seems entirely sure how the game ends and exactly what the exit strategy is.
should make the perfect christmas present.
p.s I don't think this is a hoax. "There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots" -

Cute, but the reason people play a game is because the results are unknown.
Avalon-Hill (among others) have made military board games based on conflicts from the Vikings to Vietnam for many years. From a gamer and military strategist point of view, this current conflict may be tactically very interesting and complex, although I dont think there is enough data to capture all the potential outcomes. And from the cheezy feel of this website, I dont think the quality of this will match an Avalon-Hill product. -

I'll echo slim here that it looks like a rather cheesy game. There are better ones around, and I believe I've seen a couple of with pretty good Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom modules. A couple of the better ones around (from reviews) are "Decisive Action" which has several SouthWest Asia scenarios, and "Point of Attack 2". These are tactical level games (you can take them down to individual vehicles or up to Division and Corps levels), and are used by the US military Command and General Staff College as a training tool. -

Array Hey, maybe there is some connection between Cheney and Big Gaming? PM, have you considered this angle yet on why the US went into Iraq? Oil as a reason doesnt seem to be panning out. -
Hi!
An obvious drawback - too lopsided combatants, makes for uninteresting game. Note that the chess armies are equally strong.
Imagine the web multiplayer mode - if one has to leave, and is irritated that one has not had a big enough impact on the game yet - switch into suicide bomber mode, and presto!
Have a nice time!

Oil as a reason doesnt seem to be panning out. Interesting theory, I never really believed the oil stuff either. Probably go almost as far as oil in covering reconstruction costs though!
I always wondered how much money the US recouped from WW2 and Vietnam, in terms of the industrys that surround them to this day. Do you think it possible that they made an overall profit after taxes from all those films, documentaries, books, games, conferences, T shirts, memorobilia? Probably not. Yet the capacity for America to make money out of any situation is what has made it so succesfull.
They had a quote from the guy who invented this game after he had been asked whether it might not be in bad taste. He said (slightly paraphrasing) that he'd always been taught that America was a place where if you had a good idea, you could and should make money out of it -- !! They showed one of the playing cards which said something along the lines of: 'A soldier in your unit is found to have mistreated Iraqi prisoners. Lose 100 points' "There are no stupid questions, but there are a LOT of inquisitive idiots" Similar Threads -
