I need help with washing an Uhlmann Lame

I have just purchased a new Uhlmann foil lame, and have been using it at a considerable number of tournaments. What is the proper way to wash it ( I seem to have lost the washing instructions somewhere)? On my old lame I used a cold water bath with Dreft Baby Soap (which seemed to work quite well), but I have heard of using an ammonia mix. I would rather not touch the ammonia, but I will take suggestions... thanks

The best way of washing a lame is cupful of ivory soap or woolite and capful of ammonia mix in cold water or windex but reg ammonia is the best. The reason for the mix is ammonia breaks down the body salts that dry on the lame. rijnse it in cold water and let drip dry. I have been using this method for 30 years. I still have lames that are 30 year old and still passing.
