    These are good results.

Is it just me, or are there fewer and fewer strong Jr World Cups?

And how the hell did Germany field 100+ competitors.
Something has apparently changed in the qualification standards for host countries.

    Mr E,

This was a designated cadet event... not a Jr. World Cup... hence no FIE determining entries, and less strength as it is a cadet event.

    Ah-hah... that would explain it.

It would also explain why it wasn't held in Bochum which was my next question.

    Thank you.

While it's great to see three US fencers in the top-8, it's ominous to see five Russian fencers in the top-8, too. I think the sleeping bear is awakening and Italy is going to look over her shoulders pretty soon.

This is the beginning of the next athletic arms race.....
"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. And from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moment, lost in time. Gone, like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die" -Phil Ken Sebben

"Why does Rice play Texas? We do these things not because they are easy, but because they are hard... by the end of this decade, I want to put a man and woman on the gold medal spot of the podium at a World Championships."
