Wasn't even aware of it...when is it? (I'm originally from utah, sandy in fact, but live there no more) and, if I were living in utah, or visiting (as I -might- be), I'd definitely go

Chris, you are going to get about $100 back from the SJFT fund if that makes a difference.

I was going to go...signed up and everything. But, I've cancelled (gotta call the USFA offices soon!), not going to get on a plane right now. Too much of a pain...want to wait until the airlines get their sh!t together.

I figure I'll just go to the DivII/III in Reno instead.

You're assuming that they ever will get it together...

Had I not already reserved ( nonrefundable ) tickets, I'd be tempted to drive, myself. Not an option for a lot of people, though.

Oh, well---fewer opponents to go through on my way to that inevitable victory, heh heh...

Belinda, i was told *MAYBE* 60 dollars, but even then, its gunna be 350(wich i dont have) and thats a lot of money to me, i guess i'll have to go, since the tickets are non-refundable and my gramma is telling me i should, but for me, it took me 2 and a half months to get that much, and now its all gunna be gone, and it'll be DAMN hard to buy food while im there, since i have 0 money right now, have to pay USFA membership, pay my mom 80 and my gramma 100... my next check BARELY covers the 350 to just go... if i can live off of wendys then I can be there for 5 days, only spending $15(i can buy one hamburger off the 99cent menue) but at the same time... what if i HAVE to spend money.. wich i may have to do.. then i have to skip a meal in that day... im really very pissed at the whole thing

ugh... so im still not sure if im gunna go, im gunna try to find a way out.. but it is less than a week till the turnney...

im trying to look at the most important turnneys, in this one i'll be in div2 and cadet, i WANNA go to dallas TX because thats Cadet/Junior.. and i think that one is more important.. cause i need junior points, as well as cadet, the only thing i have to gain in div2 is a B01 and i can get that at the next turnney if i make top 3...

it'll work out for the worst with my luck latly... who know what will happen, i'll post on here if something else comes up

Chris

Inquartata:
I have a non-refundable ticket, too. But, some airlines are offering credit without charging you a fee in this situation. You should contact the airline if you would rather not go. The airline I was going to fly was America West. It's good for a year.

Well, it's almost here.
Some of my fencing group will be car pooling down there to watch Saturday afternoon. I hope to be joining them. I'm about 85% sure I'll be there, but there's always that 15% to worry about.
Anyways hope to maybe meet some of you down there. Seen a few pictures, so that might help.
See ya around.

Theo,
Welcome Aboard! You better hurry if you wanna come. It's this weekend. I dont know that much about it. Except for the fact that it's in Sandy, and I'm going.
I've heard of Snow Collage. Not a bad school.

The complete schedule of events, location, etc. can be found on the USFA website.
www.usfencing.org

By the way, just in case anyone didn't know, they've changed the times for events on Monday, some quite drastically---Div II MS registration now closes at 8 a.m., for example. Check the notice at the USFA site.

Hi,

They aren't really great at posting times for this tournament. Most events though are starting at about 7 or 8 am at least for check in. When the finals happen, who knows. Like many other things in life, it takes as long as it takes, and that's how long it'll take

Seriously, come check it out. I went today as a volunteer--I could have competed, but for various reason, didn't--and it was a lot of fun. I got myself a new bag, in purple --I know, I know, "Mama's got a brand new bag, ow!"-- and a spare blade, since I've gone for nearly six months without breaking one I'm more than overdue. My credit card balance is crying for mercy all ready.

Iwant2be, if you were with the group who came down from Utah Valley Sport Fencing at around 10:30, or 11:00, I was the out-to-lunch looking chick (red shirt, black pants) manning the T-shirt booth. I saw Stryder and SalleArmourer while I was there, as well as various offspring of S.A.--Stryder's were there too, but are still a bit young to fence. It was kind of cool that three of the four finalists in DIV. III sabre were from the Utah/So. Idaho division (Constantin{sp}Gristaev from SLF and the Miner brothers from UVSF). I know you'd think that since Constantin is from my club, I could spell his name right, but you'd have thought wrong.
After my stint at the T-shirt booth, I helped out with Wheelchair Sabre. If you think able bodied Sabre is fast, you should see those guys. They're brutal--I mean that in a good way of course. I swear it almost takes longer to secure the chairs to the frames than it does to fence the bout--especially if I'm helping do the securing I just about had it down when it was time to leave. I met Derek Cotton, I was helping with his strip, and got to watch George Kolombatovich direct on the next strip. Both are really nice guys as are all the wheelchair fencers, especially considering my mechanical ineptitude. Anyway, I had a blast. If you're in the area definitely come watch, and help, between now and Monday, or if there's an NAC in your area sometime, go. It's a great experience even if you only watch. Just one correction, the USFA site says it's in halls 1&2, but for some reason we're now in hall 4, there's plenty of signs so you shouldn't get lost, but anyway. . .

BTW I heard an interesting dueling--as in with "real" weapons-- story which I'll relate later.

I really dont like my parents right now. This'll probably sound like the biggest excuse ever, but it's true.
K I got home from school on thursday. I got o talk to my mom and she says. "Get packet we're leaving to go camping tomorrow morning." I nearly. . .well I was pissed. So I didn't get to go and see NE 1!! I was on the verge of tears. Cuz I was getting so excited about going. Then I just got pissed. Oh well I'll take my anger out on my opponent tuesday (i fence tuesdays.)
I hope everyone had LOADS of fun, and won or was close to winning everything.
