| Will you use coloured uniforms? Now that coloured clothing, exept black, is legal for FIE events, will you use them? or will you stick to the traditional white?

| I think it would be interesting to add some color to the uniform. It's a pity black isnt allowed though.

| Keep it tidy-whitey and simple. It ain't a fashion show, otherwise the people would be ten times hotter. So if we're voting on something, it should be to allow more hot people into fencing.

Wait- we don't allow hot people to fence? Maybe that's where we're going wrong then!
For the record, we've been "experimenting" with different coloured socks for a while now. I think they're okay for team events if they're all the same colour, but a certain epeeist on our team wears purple and black legwarmers that make him look like an extra from The Wizard Of Oz, so....maybe we SHOULD stick to white.... |

| well colored uniforms were actually legal beforehand.... just so long as the torso was white.
This is more a clarification on the rules, rather than a drastic change. |

This is more a clarification on the rules, rather than a drastic change. | The Torso was NOT required to be white. What the actual rule was stated white or LIGHT. You could have light blue, green, red whatever as long as it was a solid color. They have gotten rid of the light.

Thanks Don. At least it removes any queries about the coloured lames (not that i ever saw any except for the old folks up in the stands). |

| This poll is flawed. I may or may not use colored kit in the future. It sort of depends. If LP makes colored kit and it does not cost to much more than the standard then I will consider it. Then again, I sort of like the shiny white. I am more happy about the designs on the mask... I think that will liven things up a bit. The colored uniforms route could also be good for team events or even the Olympics to make it more easy to tell the fencers apart.

There are many questions I still have. Could they use Dark Blue, like the exact shade of the Name and Country Code? What if one fencer on a team wore Red and one wore White? This was actually a problem 5 years ago at the Junior Worlds where the host country had changed their warmups, but not all had the new warmups.
If the wording is as vague as reported, it will be another rule that they didn't look at what might happen. This has happened to many times. For example, when they came up with the Name and Country, the rule was a MAXIMUM of 10cm, but no MINIMUM. A 1mm size name was perfectly acceptable.

| Nah, I don't think I will use colored clothing. For one thing white keeps you cooler and though a purple kit would be awesome, I like tradition. |

| No, never, nyet, nein, ohi, and in any other language, I will never wear anything but the standard white uniform.
But I would still liked to have voted for option #4 AS WELL as option #2, but cannot, and therefore... |

| If colors are allowed, black should be allowed.
But white is a much better color for fencing -- better, I must admit, than black (my country's sporting color).
Black, however, is a very nice color for masks.
Much better than clear plastic.
Fortunately, at least for foil and epee, FIE agrees. |

we've had this discussion.
Black is allowed. Just that a uniform entirely of black is not allowed. |

| I plan to be decked out in color as soon as the USFA passes this change.
The ultimate goal as you will know if you read my thread on dying clothing, is to be a dark shade of maroon from head to toe to match my school color. I think that would be amazing and if LP offered colored uniforms in maroon I would certainly buy a pair of the knickers, and a lame and a glove and a new maroon bib for my x-change mask.

| Like an old photo... Would love to have black knickers with traditional white jacket similar to a very cool uniform I saw in an old fencing book.
Since schools and some clubs have their own colors, it would be nice to see uniforms blending traditional white with colors. For example colored sleeves on white body or breeches with white jackets.
I do think that colors can be elegant and cool without being gaudy and overdone. So why not allow fencers to express their personalities or for teams to express a little school or club spirit. Seems like a good step towards making fencing more interesting to spectators too.
