restoring whiteness to fencing clothing

I have a pair of PBT Super Light breaches which have gone a yellowish off white colour. Is there any way to restore them to pure whiteness agian? I've tried bleach already.

Ok
bleach is the worst thing since it makes the white yellow. There are 2 things you must use:

1: Yellow out Soak your uniform in this for 30 minutes before turning on the wash cycle. Use the whole bottle.
2: You will need to use 2 tablespoons of Liquid Bluing in the final rinse stage. You should do 2 rinses.

I do not reccomend Clorox Bleach pens. I tried using it to bring some of the whiteness back to the bib of my mask, but it didn't work too well.

That's funny.

When I looked at the PBT Superlight, it was listed as an off white color. In fact, it's listed that way on the PBT USA website....

RL is right, bleach yellows over time. It is better to use a degreaser on stains and dirty areas, then wash normally.

My favourite degreaser is the "Pink Solution" website

I'm not a fan of using a lot of chemicals in my home. This product uses enzymes and is a non-toxic general cleaner. As far as I know, they only sell it on-line and at different home shows etc. I got some at a home show because my sister has been raving about it for years.

I tried it a few weeks ago on my 2-year-old fencing mask and now it looks new again. I also got some oil stains out of my knickers when I kneeled down to grab my water bottle when it rolled under my car and place my knee in an oil patch.

I use it as a spot remover, and as a general cleaner… essentially whenever I need to deal with grease. The oils from our bodies are the source of most of the grime along collars, and the front of our bibs. So this (or most degreasers) will do the trick.

They are more than just off white now. I got them in Plovdiv were only PBT was selling and no other company so I had little choice. I will deffinatly never by anything PBT again (exept foils or electric jacket maby).

Well since it is a pair of breaches that have gone yellow I think it may be worth going before you put them on !!! Other than that there is a stain remover called "vanish" well iam not 100% they sell it outside the Uk (that's where I live) but it is worth looking out for it as that is what i used on my jacket and it worked a treat. Oh and in futur it is alot asier to wash your breaches more often and it should prevent the yellowing occuring in the 1st lace and saves you the work. Anyway good luck and happy fencing,
