| FIE foil blades I lost my foil in Albuequerque (it was a piece of crap, so i'm not too sad) and am looking for a really good foil to replace it. However, I'm on a tight budget, but are there any really good FIE blades out there for cheap? Which would you guys recommend? (please include prices on your recommendations).

| I really like the Prieur blue FIE blade. It's lightweight and does just fine for me. The only drawback is that after awhile it can get funny kinks in it, but if you're delligent enough you can fix those. They're in the Specials section at the Blue Gauntlet website, and they cost $51.

| For the less expensive FIE foils you could get an StM or Vniti. I don't have experience with the StM FIE blades, but the Vnitis last a very long time.
A couple of years ago you could get Vniti blades for in the $60s, but they increased the cost to wholesalers/vendors since then so the pricing is around $70-$80 for an unwired Vniti. FIE Foil Blades |

| Well I have looked on the british loen paul website and a Leon Paul Electric foil blade Paul France(Reference F10PF) it was £28 which when I did a currency converter it worked out to be about $40-$50 this is not the best blade they have by far but I loved using this blade when I fenced foil .
Well good luck with whatever blade you choose and thanks again for sending me that training program,

| The Prieur FIE blades are very nice. I had a few spotty ones that had the wire groove cut very badly or were to thin in the foible from the BG sales section so I stopped getting them from there. Even so they are a good deal. If you give a lot of hard hits I would avoid them as they bend easily and oddly but if you are a soft touch they are great, lightweight and well balanced blades. For a bit more you can, as Craig mentioned, go with Vniti. Simply the best blades as for feel and durability that you can get close to that price IMHO. I don't care for StM. They don't feel as well as the Vniti to me and they break or turn noodley much quicker than the Vniti.

Kmak_577 | The Paul France and Paul Star "etoile" blades are not FIE. Can't really get a good LP FIE blade for less than about 120.00 wired. The Flickmasters are really sweet for us Vniti users wanting a slightly more subtle and lighter weight blade and the G pros as just awesome blades that are more durable in my experiance than the BF blades. But they ain't cheap. I don't care much for the budget maraging blades that LP offers as they feel odd and require that shoulder thing which is one more peice that can work lose. Also if you go with a radical bend the shoulder can be a bit of a pain.

| StM gold's. A bit heavy, but very flexible kinda like an overweight gymnist.

| Ever seen high level gymnasts? The 12 y/o girls who weigh 60 punds, and overweight one weighs 62, scary stuff if you ask me.

| Ever seen the male gymnists? They're built like the titanic. The overweight ones have a slightly cushy spot under their pinky toe.

except it's more like "after fencing with it twice" more than "after a while" if you hit hard at all. in other words, if you really don't like unbending blades, spend another $20 and get a better FIE blade. but if you don't mind, the price is hard to beat. |

| I would say to go with the Vniti. The guys i fence with and myself all have them. we have only broken one in the last year. I love mine, i think it is perfect, well balance, a little wippy but more than stiff enough to have good point control.

| Another vote for the vniti foil blade. I know quite a few people who swear by 'em. |
