| Lp sabre masks Which mask do you recommend , LP FIE X-Change electric Sabre or LP F.I.E. Electric sabre Mask 1600 Newtons . The X change has a removable bib but Iam not sure how long it would take for a bib to wear out and if it is worth the extra £30 for the mask . Can anyone remmond 1 over the other ?
Thanks,

| Most propably it´s not worth buying the more costly version, after all, if you are going to use it all around the year, you will wear it out anyway!
Btw, as of present, I´m using a second hand Allstar, but my next mask will be an LP! Much better design and durability!!! |

| You're what, 15? Are you finished growing? If you think your mask size will change in the next 3 years, I'd get the regular sabre mask, as it will probably last until you need a new one anyway. However, if you think you're already at the mask size you'll wear the rest of your life, might as well get the X-Change and be able to swap out bibs when they lose conductivity. |

| Just be aware....because of the design of the bib on an X-change, there's less material to dampan the sound of you getting hit on the noggin.....you definitely know your bell's been rung, 'cause that's what it sounds like! |

| If you are going to get a Leon Paul then I recommend the Contour Fit option. I love mine. I don't have the X-Change bib on my mask.

| If you are going to buy the X-change mask, then i strongly suggest you buy a spare bib. I have seen the bibs fail on the X- change, and the Person seem distraught because he did not have another bib, and had to purchase another mask.... When they didnt have to.

Two things seem to effect that a lot. For example, it is a good thing Michael Marx did not fence Sabre. There were times he poured out water from his mask after a bout. If you sweat a lot, it will fail more.
How you treat it is the second problem. Many clip their mask cord to the bib. Because of the padding, it seems to affect the lame' material much more than on a jacket/vest. It is best to clip to the metal trim. The padding also holds in water, towel it off after use. Do all the other things that you would do to clean a lame'.

| Excellent advice on buying a spare bib if you get it.
Donald - I've taken to the habit of clipping my mask cord to just above the lame material, where the padding and rim meet behind the ear. If you clip it directly to the trim, generally the clamp doesn't do as good a job and comes off easier. The added padding helps give it something to grip onto and less likely to come off. |

| That depends on the clip. Right now in many instances, you are absolutely right. It used to be the standard clip was a Muller 27. The problem is most manufacturers have gone to cheaper, less robust clips.
I'm afraid my problem is I use only Muller 27 or 27C and that is what I am used to. They hold.

| Some of the Italian Manufacturers use a clip that is smooth on one side, so it obviously would not grab as well. Most clips used today, I can open up and clip on my finger with no discomfort. I wouldn't try that with a Mueller. It would most likely break skin or worse.
